A first-anniversary spin - Last year today I enjoyed a quiet and reflective evening in the company of Karl Hyde's first solo effort, Edgeland. The album is a brilliant and mature effort from Underworld's frontman - meditative and heady ambient pop.
Pictured is my copy of the LP and a photo I took of Karl at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC the last time he came to the US. This and the Eno collaborations which followed quickly became some of my favorite post MkII-era releases from Karl Hyde.

Absolutely magical - I'm listening to every recording of Eric Satie’s Gymnopedie 1, superimposed and time-stretched to uniform duration.

I keep this LP in a special area of my listening room, shelved beside copies of Hangin' Tough, "Girl You Know It's True", Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em, and Miami Sound Machine's "Bad Boy" remix single. It is my dark place.
