To be fair, the creeping stripped down menace has been there from the start, albeit much less accessible



Tender Prey is basically the link between the early stuff and the Good Son stuff. It's a perfect balance of everything great about them from early albums and also a great example of what was to come after. It's an album that really showcases everything they'd ever be capable of. It sounds kinda raw in comparison since the ensemble would expand with all these instruments and pristine production and whatever, but I always thought it was one everyone would enjoy.

It's fun. Except the song "Mercy", that one's not as fun. It's a downer. I like it.
