this is actually from a short film called 1/2 Mensch....it's about an hour long and includes mostly live footage from their Japanese tour for that album....it also includes a few "videos" written and directed my Japanese experimental director Gakuryû Ishii (Angel Dust, Electric Dragon 80,000 V)

if you can find a copy of the entire video i suggest watching it....

mainly due to responding to this post

Holy **** is this ****ing sweet! Where was awesome hardcore like this when I was being turned off by Bad Brains, Agnostic Front, and Gorilla Biscuits? DRI, Cro-Mags, and now Refused are reigniting my interest in the genre.

Do I get at least some brownie points for finding The Shape of Punk to Come to be by far the best album I've discovered this year, and at least top five of last year as well? Seriously, where the **** has this thing been all my life?

Seriously, if I was in a band in 1998, I would have quit after hearing this, cause what's the point?

It honestly blows my mind you have not heard this.

Yes....I was asked by someone in 1999 my thoughts on "Shape of Punk to Come" and my response was "I wish it was"

But for me Start Today is a pinnacle hardcore album.

I was never a huge fan of the other Refused albums but there is no denying how amazing Shape of Punk to Come is

I like punk and all, but I've never really gone out of my way to go on very many serious pilgrimages of discovery. I'm far more ignorant than anybody who considers himself a fan of any genre has a right to be. I also remember associating them with some other band, a far ****tier band, just because I confused the names (don't remember which one). So that's my excuse.

I am listening to Alabama Shakes "Sound and Color".

Feeling very... separate... from the human race right now. It might the drugs. And yes I am kidding.

I just had to endure my first-ever exposure to a godawful Red Hot Chili Peppers track called "Can't Stop" while trapped in a moving vehicle with no escape from its wretched ear sodomy.

I am seriously awestruck that this passes for music. The melody consisted of two notes see-sawing back and forth with a painfully oversimplified repetition I've not witnessed outside of elementary school mimicry exercises.

And that's the whole song. Nothing else happens - just "BAAHP-BOP! buh-BAP buh-BA-BAP-BAP-BAH!" ad infinitum, (and ad nauseam).

I have no problem being seen as a curmudgeonly old man shaking his fist at whippersnappers if this is the kind of sh*t they're going to play.
