Talib is definitely one of the top in the game. I just noticed, alot of my favorite lyricists are coming off what-i-think-are weak albums Talib- Beautiful struggle Nas- Street's Disciple Ghostface- Pretty Toney Album Mos Def- New Danger Not saying these albums were bad, but I just had really high expectations for them, considering the precedent. If there's one album to really talk about, it's Talib's Reflection Eternal with Hi-Tek.

Ya, Beautiful Struggle wasn't what I was hoping for, but there are still a few classics on it. Like 'Around My Way' and 'Ghetto Show'
Everybody get Danger Doom 'The Mouse and The Mask' on Oct 10. Danger Mouse and MF Doom....sickness. There are guest spots by Ghostface, Cee-Lo, Talib, and of course, The Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I've almost played this album out before it's release. Also, I don't listen to Jay-Z much, but I think he has said something like "if truth be told, I'd wanna rap like Talib Kweli..." and ya, Eternal Reflection is probably Talib's best. I like Quality too tho. Now I'm wanting a sort of black star type album with Talib and Doom. Mos Def is cool but Doom is taking over. Mos Def is too busy being a actor?!!? |
