You can be a good author without using as many rhetorical devices / big words as possible just as you can be a good rapper without using as many technical devices as possible.

You must read some **** books. I've never read a book where the author is technically bad. They must have some sort of technical skill if they're even going to get their work published. And "big words" has nothing to do with lyricism.

lol @ your fail. You can't even remember what you typed? scroll up. You clearly implied that you don't need technical ability to be a good author or a good rapper. When clearly, you do.

Not great technically = not a good rapper. You can still be a good entertainer or good pop star but you're not a good rapper.

So, "without using as many" = "having zero technical understanding"?

cool man

I never once stated it was about quantity. It's all about quality.

You can use every technical element of lyricism but if they're only average or below average then it's nothing special.

Or you can use only a handful of the technical elements (for example, multies, alliteration and inner rhyming) but use them extremely well, this makes you better than the guy who uses all the technical elements on an "average" level.

But using NONE of the technical elements = fail pop star who is raping the rap industry(prime example, 50cent).

Listen, you've shown time and time again that the only thing you value is someone's ability to hold hands with technical guidelines. That's all you've shown that you care about. You don't care about things that often outweigh your overly technical bull****.

For example: Guru > Canibus

Canibus is a shockingly bad lyricist. So that's a terrible example.

And no, I don't just value the technical ability.

I prefer listening to Tupac over Big L. And Big L is one of the greatest lyricists we've ever seen in the rap world. But I prefer tupac because of his topics (brendas got a baby, changes, how long will they mourn me, panther power, etc etc).

You also have how well they can flow, if they can carry a good rhythm, how well they can engage their listeners and relate to them etc etc.

I'm simply saying, rap is based around lyricism, there is other factors, yes. But if you use no lyrical techniques at all the chances are you're a terrible rapper. Single syllable rhymes and basic rhyme structure are the signs of an incompetent rapper.

Like I said, I personally prefer tupac over Big L, in fact I don't like Big L's music at all, but that's my personal opinion. If someone was to ask who the better rapper is, I would without a doubt tell them that it is Big L. I prefer Tupac, but Big L is the better rapper. Simple as that.
