thats why its really silly to call rappers like eminem and 50 cent the "best".
eminem has the same marketing tactic for every album-release a silly radio song like "my name is" , "the real slim shady", and "a$$ like that" that gets people to buy his album, but when they get the album, the rest of the songs are totally different.
And 50 lost the fire he had in his first album. Dont believe me? listen to over-used boring rhetoric in "a lil bit" and "so seductive". He should take after DMX. When DMX first came out, he had pain and he had stories and experiences to tell. However, once he got all that out, he started making commercial music. It didnt work for him. Fortunately, he figured it out and stopped.

Infinite was Eminem's best album hands down. Encore is just not good enough.

for me it has to be biggie. i only have ready to die..but it is possibly my favourite hip-hop/rap album i have. his flow is so unique and the older sounding beats match in perfect with his style. and also the way in gimmie the loot there is too parts and his album is almost a story of what he has been through. the best tune is unbelievable and the flow in that is well like the title suggests and also shows a great diversity in his rhyhmes. that is why he is the greatest to me, and i dont give a **** that he was shot, it doesnt affect my judgement.

also i feel that eazy E was a great rapper, not really seriously, but his style just made me laugh, and some of his rhyhmes were about serious issues but brought a sense of humour.
on the more modern front i would say my favourite rapper would have to be Nas or the material from kanye west from the college drop-out (not too keen on his new tunes) nas i aint heard that much of, but get down is one of my favorite tunes. and he remains mainstream despite keeping a bit for the people more into underground rap. as for kanye i feel his first album was genious and had some great beats and great lyrics put in.

if including rappers from groups, id put in Q-tip, coz i think he is truly an immense rapper and is really the main part of tribe to be honest.

mac dre and tupac tie for me they are both great rappers and both got more then 20+ albums out right now even though they are dead..they each had a different style of rap. Tupac was more of a deep thought rapper while mac dre just didnt give a **** about what he rapped about in his songs. mac dre was more of a underground bay area rapper anyone from nor cal noes who he is. and tupac was more of a main stream "gangsta" rapper even though he could rap about why women need to be treated with respect and then switch to rapping about bitches and hoes

there isnt a best, it just all depends on your mood and mindstate, for example if you are in an introspective thought provoking mood then Mos Def or Nas etc would be the perfect choice, if you want to be whisked away to tales of the streets and Hi-Fashion lifestyles with a bit of common sense Jay-Z or to a lesser extent AZ etc would be the choice if you wanna Break, Lock and Pop, (for the lay-man 'Breakdance') Missy Elliot, Timbaland beats are lovely, (and thats just new school!), my people i beg you don't be so close minded! That's not what Hip Hop is about, it's about innovating, standing out from the crowd and respecting another brother/sisters' style and contribution.
