I am in Canada, I got it. You can download the client, but you have to have somebody from the USA sign you up. I just had a friend in the states make me an account and send me the details. Then I logged onto the application and it works for me.
Just get an invite e-mailed it to you and forward the e-mail to somebody in the States you know who can do it. They create the account and give you the log in details and you log in.

Surprised it took them this long to launch in America, over here it's an integral part of the music culture at this point.
It used to be that the free version was unlimited (but with ads), but that changed a few months ago. Now you can't listen to more than ten hours/months, which is a real bitch. I guess the $5/month fee for the premium version is pretty small though. Before using you should however be aware that Spotify has some questionably policies towards the indie companies. They pay then a lot less than the big four.

Hey guys, I'm looking to add to my people's list on Spotify.
I've synchronized it with my Facebook, but my friends have really bad tastes in music. So, I was wondering if some of you guys wouldn't mind sharing your usernames, so I can check out what your listening to, and maybe find some new artists/songs. |

Hey does anyone have a clue how to scrobble from Spotify? I saw that you have to go into your preferences... the thing is though, I can't seem to find my preferences. >_<
Does this have anything to do with the fact that my Spotify is the free version? Or am I just stupid? |

Preferences is under Edit and it's right there, you can't miss it.
The Last.fm log in box is right at the top.
