Who would kill me if I said Joey Ramone and Joe Strummer can't sing?

Can't sing: Fat Mike(NoFX) Tom DeLonge(blink-182/Angels & Airwaves)
both have distinctive voices for the bands they're in..so I don't know if that makes em good or not.

Joe Strummer can`t sing, but the Clash sound was far more about their eclectic musical ideas, message and lyrics than his voice.

Seriously who gives a **** whether a musician "can sing". If we really cared we'd all be listening to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Erm, nah, I think it's kind of important. We want our singers to sing well, and our guitarists to guitar well, and our drummers to drum well, etc

Imagine how boring a football game would be if nobody were any good at it

Eh, you just compared football to music! Well, music can get away with not having a certain technical level, because it can bring an emotional intensity instead. It's called an expression. If it's successful it can move us very deeply. I'm sure football players also bring a lot of emotions when they play, and we can admire them for that, but without some technical level, it won't win them a game. There are no points for emotions and aesthetics in football, right.

Håkan Hellström (one of Swedens biggest artists). He ain't good, but he is still a loved singer.

Right, it wasn't an absolute comparison. I was just pointing out that I, personally, tend to enjoy music more when the singer can actually sing.
