Default Is there a way?

So, I was wondering if there was a way to turn an everyday song into something that sounds like it came from a Nintendo game. I always hear this being used on Keygens for cracking programs.

make a midi version of the song and drop the quality of the playback instruments.

Sorry, but how would I go about doing that?

edit: I don't know if this is even what i'm supposed to do, but, I briefly googled a few things and found this: mymusictools.com/articles/how-do-i-convert-mp3-to-midi.htm

I downloaded it and installed it, but for some reason I always get errors when selecting an mp3 (but I wouldn't expect you to help with that for this isn't a software support forum!) :P

yeah an app like that should be able to do it. the issue with midi is that it's hardware based so it will also depend on the specific sound bank installed on your soundcard. it could also be that the mp3 is too high quality to be converted with that app.

Do you know of any other programs that might be able to do it?
