Why shouldn't pop bands be unique?

Well when does it cross the line from it being "alternative rock" to "pop"? As soon as it hits the charts? I always feel like pop bands are a bit bland, not much to them, I'm sure there are some exceptions. But I always felt The Smiths had that extra depth to them, the lyrics, the guitar playing.

Sometimes I have a cheesy mood for cheesy pop
More often I have a mood for progressive rock or metal. I really like more genres.

I think you are assuming all pop is Top 40, which it is not.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I bought a Billy Squire album because I liked the Stroke.
*hides face*
And I can't throw away my old Hillary Duff CDs. Sentimental value.
