I never really got into Linkin Park, but I used to like Slipknot. In all honesty, I liked the heavier parts in slipknot songs, and I was always sort of bummed out they had to include whiny vocals in between the heavy parts. It's not like I don't see the point of it, contrast and all, but it felt kind of forced and a bit gimmicky.

I still like the first two SOAD albums. Compared to a lot of alternative metal/nu-metal that was around a decade ago the early SOAD albums still stand up pretty well.
I never really liked Slipknot though, I always saw their masks as a gimmick to make up for their uninteresting music.
