If it wasn't for super intense subsect genre discussions what would music forums come to?

I could care less what genre or definition music is put in as long as I enjoy listening to it. I never heard or knew what on earth "Screamo" was until I looked it up. When I was a kid, there was rock, r&b, blues etc without a bunch of subgenres allthough I don't mind them most of the time. I just don't keep up with all the loads of subgenres they are coming out these days. It's like huh??? Makes me dizzy with all of the names they have now. I don't stick with one type of music anyway, I will listen to a alt country station one moment on my Slacker portable G2 radio and then the next I will be listening to Trance. I don't think it matters what type of genre or definition you put on music. Good music is good music no matter what label you slap on it!

I think genres are fine until they reach the sub-sub-genre point.
Adding an adjective to an already unnecessary sub genre does not make it valid. Case in point: ambient black metal, melodic death metal, blah blah blah. |
