Atmosphere- Apple Pretty funny. I don't know what else to say. I like the beat. Just because your a rapper doesn't mean you get to act like an *******, lol. Gorillaz- Feel Good Inc. AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH YYYYYYYYYYEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH. <3 Captain Beefheart- Fallin' Ditch Far from my favorite track on TMR, but it's still the shizz. Eric Johnson- Zap (live) It was fun. I enjoyed the drums and bass more than the guitar for some odd reason though. Muse- Sing for Absolution eh, didn't dig it that much. But I know that last.fm never plays the good stuff. The stuff in the middle was top notch Tony! last.fm is in my sig.

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band – “Trout Mask Replica” I haven’t heard any Captain Beefheart before but had been thinking about checking out this album because I’ve seen it mentioned quite a bit on this forum. This song however…does not appeal to me at all. Granted, it does sound like an intro, outro, or interlude so it’s probably not a good judge of his style o the album overall. Too bad this had to be my first experience, as I didn’t enjoy this at all. 1/5 Coheed and Cambria – “Ten Speed (of God’s Blood & Burial)” Ah this I know. I was a big fan of Coheed and Cambria from about 2002 and still like them but I guess I got a bit burned out by the time No Time for Tomorrow came out. Until then, I was pleasantly surprised by each new album that came out, even liking each new one more than its predecessor. No World for Tomorrow just wasn’t as good as any of the other 3. Anyway, this is a good song, I enjoyed it, even if not one of my favorites. 4/5 Sigur Rós – “Ágætis Byrjun” A band that I’ve been aware of for years but have never bothered to check out because nothing I’d heard about them really appealed to me. They’ve always seemed like something pretty boring, simply based on samples and reviews, comments, etc. I listen to a fair share of post rock as well as mellow IDM electronic, so it’s possible that I would like these guys. But I don’t usually seek out music to fall asleep to. It usually appeals to me for some reason other than the fact that it’s mellow. So the song…it’s nice and inoffensive, but as I suspected, is kind of sleep-inducing. If I fall asleep at work and get in trouble, I’m coming after your ass, gunnels. Oh my goodness, I’m 3+ minutes in and there are 6+ minutes left. <goes to do some work while listening> Ok it’s wrapping up now. Well it was decent enough, but doesn’t make me want to check out the band. I didn’t care for the vocals too much, if I had to say anything negative about it. 2.5/5 System of a Down – “CUBErt” I have mixed feelings about this band. I own the album Toxicity but like half of the songs at most. A few are really nice. It’s the only one I’ve ever heard. Overall it’s not the kind of hard rock/metal that I enjoy, it’s a little too nu-metal for my taste, and I don’t really like the vocal style all that much. It just happens to work well on a few songs (“Aerials” is a really nice one). This song appears to be from their debut, and has a pretty nice raw sound to it. It’s ok but doesn’t change my opinion of the band. 2.5/5 The Mars Volta – “Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt” Ah yes, love me some TMV. And the from the debut, no less. They along with Coheed and Cambria helped me get into progressive rock around 2002-2003. TMV has managed to hold my interest more though, as they keep on experimenting. Anyway…this is a great song from my favorite TMV album. Not much else to say. 5/5

Wire-Brazil -straight rock song. heard stuff like this before, but still good. short as hell too. Forss-Using Splashes -pretty chill electronica, when the piano comes in the song makes a bit of a 180. i see that they're Swedish, which may explain the language in the middle. overall i like it. Suicidal Tendancies-Alone -gah! this reminded me that i have to get some of ST's stuff! the guitars are kickass, and the song is pretty good, but a little "happier" than i expected from this band, even if the lyrics aren't, if you get what i mean. Spirit-Arent You Glad -has a bit of a classic rock sound, pretty good. a bit generic, but nothing i can't get into. Wax Tailor-Stay Tuned a really short track, probably filler, so i can't really make any assumptions on the artist from this.

Damn those filler tracks, we should be able to skip 'em. Though some are good, they don't provide an accurate representation of the artist and are therefore useless for this kind of thread.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Sir Psycho Sexy
Great, I could've done with a minute or two shedded off. 4/5 Michael Jackson - Human Nature That sucked. 1.5/5 Between the Buried and Me - Breathe In, Breathe Out One of my fav songs by them. 5/5 Chromeo - Intro it was ok. 3/5 CKY - Inhuman Creation Station Funky, the vocals were a bit poppy for the verses though. 3.5/5

The Clash - "Lost in the Supermarket" Thank goodness for a Clash song. I've heard them talked up so much lately, but have never bothered playing any of their albums. Truth be told, I've never liked the song "London Calling" and that's the primary reason. The quality of this track sucks, I wonder if this is how the album sounds? Sometimes Last.fm plays a track from a live album or something, maybe a demo. I don't know. But the quality sucks and I'm not really enjoying the song. Reading the comments on the page does seem to reveal that it's not the version I should be hearing. Even aside from the production, I'm finding it pretty lame. 2/5 Tool - "Parabola" Hell yes. I love Tool, and this song is great. I have nothing else to say. 5/5 Weezer – “El Scorcho” After the blue album which I loved and still love, I never got Pinkerton. I don’t know why. I think it was always on my list to check out but the samples were never interesting enough for me to actually go forward with the purchase. Maybe I moved on to other things by the time it had come out. When the green album and Maladroit came out, I ended up getting those. Not sure why, as both were disappointments. About 3 years ago I ended up downloading Pinkerton and wasn’t very impressed with it. I guess it’s better than green and Maladroit, but still didn’t compare to the blue album. This song here…it’s not bad. Better than my overall impression of the album. But whatever. For me, the blue album is the only essential Weezer album. 3/5 Faith No More – “War Pigs (live)” This recording is from Live at The Brixton Academy. As much a FNM fan as I was back then and still am, I didn’t pick this up when it came out. There are some great live albums out there but they usually don’t excite me unless I hear that they’re exceptionally good or feature cool covers. This does feature covers, but nothing that wasn’t available on the albums AFAIK. So “War Pigs”…it’s a great song by Black Sabbath and a great cover by FNM. The live version, however, isn’t as good as the studio version. He is doing some crazy singing towards the end though, so that’s cool. Still probably more exciting in person. Speaking of, come tour the states mother****ers! 4/5 LITE – “Fade” I’ve never heard of these guys. And as I was doing other stuff when this song started, I was for sure that this was Deftones. Oops. About a minute into it I realized this was not them, as I had expected some vocals to kick in by then. This is an instrumental track. I wouldn’t call it post-rock as the guitars are being used in the traditional rock manner, it’s just instrumental rock I guess. I dig it, nice song. It doesn’t sound at all like Deftones now, guess it was just the beginning. Not that I need any more instrumental rock to check out, but I like the song and wouldn’t mind hearing more from them. 4/5 The Dillinger Escape Plan – “We Are the Storm” I’ve heard some DEP, and really like their EP with Mike Patton. That’s because I’m a Mike Patton fan though. I’ve never heard anything from the album this track belongs to though, Miss Machine. It’s ok. Hmm, I’m liking the slow-down mid way through the track. The softer vocals actually remind me of Mike Patton, so that’s a plus. The instrumentation here is nice too. Then it picks up again and is chaotic like the first half. I like some stuff like this but for whatever reason DEP doesn't do enough to pull me in. 3/5 Dead Kennedys – “California Über Alles” Good track. I’ve never actually checked out any albums by DK, only the compilation Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death which I’ve had on vinyl since the early 90s, and it does feature this song. Nice tune but not outstanding or anything. 4/5 ------------------------- The tracks were going by kind of fast as I was typing all of this, so I went beyond 5 without realizing it. Might as well post them all since I took the time to review them. Good score overall, khfreek.

Done now. More people should do this, I like it. I may try this on another site I visit, but I don't think it'll have as much success because it's a much smaller user group.
