100 Great Performers

Since everyone is doing one...
This Top 100 is based on pure performance, regardless of talent.

1: Amanda Palmer
She puts every little once on energy she has into every performance and it shows. I like her style and her voice is super-unique. Bravo.

2: Gwen Stefani

Thats right, OLD Gwen Stefani, the girl who used to do one-handed push ups on stage and wasn't afraid of being "Just a Girl." I used to love her over-done make-up, cheesy smile, and hyperactive stage presence. So this is for Gwen Stefani...in rememberance.

3: Jimmy Urine

Oh wow, the mesh, the butterfly wings, the putting cigarettes out on the guitarist's tongue. This guys demands interaction, and gets kicks out of insulting the audience. I have never had more fun at any show in my life. I like watching people that have fun on the stage, and he really enjoys himself.

4: Keith Moon

I wish I could have been alive to see him. This guy is pure energy. Another performer who enjoys being on stage.

I hope Wayne Coyne from Flaming Lips makes this list, he'd be right up near the top of mine.

Absolutely agree with Amanda Palmer by the way. Dresden Dolls are amazing live.

5:Otep Shamaya

She is great at being angry.

6:Nick Urata

Not only does he have a certain George Clooney handsome-ness about him, he can definately sing and plays the theramin on stage!

7: Dave Mustaine

You gotta love his hair. And boy can he wail! He's a tops performer and has fun.

8:Rivers Cuomo

He's such an adorable nerd. But he's really interactive with the audience and I think he has more fun at shows than the crowd does.

9:Tony Kakko

He's charming, charismatic, and he has better hair than me! He points and smiles and winks at the crowd. I was taking a video of him and he gave me the finger. But it was all in jest, he's one of my absolute favorite people to see live.

This is a really great list and I agree with most of your choices. I love Amanda Palmer.

FireInCairo 12-10-2008 03:28 AM

Amanda Palmer is fantastic but the rest don't do much for me...

I have seen Megadeth a few times and they always put on a really good show.

Jerry Lee

Thought I would pick this back up and try and finish it. And in tune with this week's theme I'll pick back up at:

10:Jerry Lee Lewis
One of the original really eccentric performers. He put on a really raw performance.

I'll do like one or two of these a day, feel free to suggest artists.

Nice choice on Dave Mustaine! Gotta love Megadeth.

Jimmy Urine FTW. MSI in general are top notch live and it would be a blast to go to a show, especially if they play some of their older, more hyperactive material.

She is not afraid to walk around with unshaved pits

Way to turn-off everybody on the first post... And to think, I thought she was pretty hot.

It's a feminism thing. :/

And I fixed it. Looking back, it's not really a "hook" to the thread and was actually fairly inappropriate and irrelevant to her performance.

I agree. Were they at the festival you have just been to? Did they play all or most of Rust In Peace? I didnt know they were going to do that so i was one happy bunny.

Do you mean OUNCE OF ENERGY?

Flower Child 06-24-2010 01:22 PM

Hey I liked seeing who you had to put down, I've never heard of Jimmy Urine before but he looks like a character for sure. I don't know if you are very familiar with Hank Williams Jr., but he won entertainer of the year three years in a row back in the 70s, and I heard his concerts were quite the experience if you were able to survive to tell about them. My dad went to one of Hanks concerts back in his prime and said that he was shooting blanks out into the audience in between songs. I highly doubt he could legally do that anymore.

A lot of the time I think an artist's performance really depends on the crowd. And how drunk they are. It seems like the crazier the crowd is, the more the performer wants to give.

Where's GG Allin?

boo boo 06-25-2010 07:10 PM

Hopefully not on this list.
