That's how I look at it.

One of the guys at my school automatically writes music off if it's country or pop or rap, cuz you know HARD ROCK IS FTW.

Its all about the capacity to appreciate, perhaps even enjoy to a point, music in all its shapes and forms.

Gotta say though, I do wish people would open up to more experimental (jazzier or more free-formish) kinds of music a bit. It's nice and all to love punk, Indie and different kinds of metal, but if you can't appreciate at-least one or two aspects of jazz, then you really aren't diverse.
