i want to get into Daniel Johnston but i have no idea where to start. any suggestions?

Start with the album "Hi, How Are You", or "Fun". They're two good albums. You can get them at megadownload for free.

I would suggest The Late Great Daniel Johnston Discovered Covered.

This is a clever album as it consists of 2 discs. Each disc contains the same songs in the same order with one disk being the original with Daniel singing and playing in his own inimitable way and the other being cover versions by people such as Beck, Bright Eyes, Death Cab For Cutie, Mercury Rev, Tom Waits to just name a few.

This is a really good album and one of the more interesting ones I have brought on speculation.

I'm gonna go ahead and 2nd Fun. All the songs are really lovely and the album definitely lives up to its name.

Daniel Johnston is adorable.

This actually helps me out as well, as I've been meaning to get into his stuff as well.
