Default What album are you rediscovering?

You buy an album and fall in love with it. It's on constant rotation. One day you file it away, and for whatever reason, don't play it for months, years. Eventually you play it again, and it brings back amazing memories.

Sift through your music collection, physical or virtual, and pick out five or ten albums you used to love but haven't played for at least a year. Listen to them all. You're guaranteed to find at least one that knocks you out.

Lately I've been listening to Dire Strait's Communique a lot (don't laugh!)

As a high school freshman, this was my favorite record. The sound is impossibly clean and slick. Every track has at least one special moment that makes it memorable. Listening to this now, I'm amazed that I'm still discovering little things to love about this record. The guitar solo at the end of Lady Writer is truly phenomenal, maybe even better than Sultans Of Swing. The guitar licks in Single Handed Sailor are lovelier than I remembered. The backing vocals on Angel Of Mercy just make that song. Wow. I haven't felt this excited about an old favorite since I dug Let It Bleed out of the basement.
