"Why take this long when three minutes will do?"

I thought you were suggesting that it didn't need to be that long... Songs can certainly be epic without being enormous opuses.

I was trying to provide a possible counter argument within my statement...and failed. I will say that 'Epic' has not stood the test of time well at all.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Mike Patton's delivery in that song simply makes him sound like a bad version of Anthony Kiedis. Sucks, because the rest of the song (and album) is great. To be honest, funk metal hasn't stood the test of time well at all.

I saw FNM twice on the real thing tour and they were simply awesome but 'Epic' sounds forced somehow. The album as a whole is still great. Living Color still sound pretty good and Fishbones' 'Truth and Soul' album has dated well too.

I tried to go, but my diapers kept riding up on me.

I still grew up hearing From Out of Nowhere and Epic on the radio.
