People need to learn some patience
At my school, i was waiting for my lunch period to end so i played some ITunes on my computer. A boy in my class (who i happen to know likes Lil' Wayne, if it matters) walked over, listened to the first five seconds of Tristania's "A Sequel of Decay", and said "Wow, how can you listen to this?". Then he walked away.
What's the deal? Almost all songs sound at least somewhat different at the beginning as they do later on (and the song i was playing was over six and a half minutes long). I figure that his music must be incredibly repetitive and boring if he judges my entire taste in music by the very beginning of one song. Please don't say he is just a jerk, because other people have said about my music. And please don't say my music sucks, because that will not help anyone. Can someone please tell my why people think this way? |

Because they are twats. Listen to the music that YOU want to listen to. Follow your own path and let all those narrow minded idiots wallow in mediocrity.

Not to be a slimy bugger, but I don't think this is completely appropriate in the General Music forums.
Don't let it get you down. Music is always a touchy subject for people to agree upon. Some people think that there is an objective difference between good taste and bad, but really, it's all a matter of personal choice. That kid you mentioned -- he probably isn't a bad person, but just needs to learn to be more accepting of others. Still, that's no reason to grow despondent with people. If I was waiting for someone to share (or even approve) my collective musical taste, I'd be waiting for a very long time. When people try to make fun of the music that I listen to, I like to remind them that I don't pigeonhole my taste in music to just the genre that I'm listening to.
