Live Albums which are the artist's BEST release
Which artists do you feel have a live album that is better than any of their studio releases?
Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From The Road One of my favourite live albums, absolutely brilliant fun, tremendous musicianship, great quality recording and definitely their best. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/album_images/16147.jpg Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963 Already reviewed this but great voice, great songs, great atmosphere. http://static.rateyourmusic.com/album_images/29773.jpg |

I've never been all that keen on live albums, but here's a pretty obvious choice from me; http://www.brooklynvegan.com/img/music/jbapollo.jpg And this album is immense, but merely one of my favourites in his discography; http://www.autismwebsite.com/bowie/h...gifs/stage.gif |

This album is incredible. It's a perfect blend of topical songs and more subtle folk tracks. The highlights are versions of Poe's "The Bells" and Alfred Noyes' "The Highwayman" set to music. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg All of Van Zandt's studio albums are marred by poor production, limp performances, or uninspired song selections. This one tops them all, and it even has the edge over the legendary Live At The Old Quarter, by virtue of a quicker pace (no annoying jokes here!) and an incredible backing band. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA240_.jpg Spiral Scratch is still their best work, but this easily tops Singles Going Steady. I'll throw in the Sex Pistols' Burton-On-Trent gig if we're counting that as an official live album. |

There's no doubt that that this a great song, and a great live performance. But the album as a whole isn't as solid as Axis: Bold As Love. |

Gonna have to go ahead and nod to that Allman Brothers pick
Excellent choice |
Allman Brothers gets even another nod. You could also add Eat A Peach
