That's how I was for my first few months on the forum.

Then something clicked in.

Of the top Ten albums, only Dylan deserves to be there, of the top 100.. only 32 of the albums listed deserve consideration at all. At a quick glance I have 40, but listened to around 80 in my time.

I'm trying to decide whether the GZA being that high is a good or a bad thing, obviously Liquid Swords shouldn't be THAT high but it's good something like that gets a mention.
Too much Dylan.
Would have had Reign In Blood, Kid A, Beggars Banquet and What's Going On higher but i'm nitpicking now.

I own 76 of those albums, but fewer top jazz albums than I imagined.

I certainly disagree with a lot of the list. For instance, putting The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady above Mingus Ah Um is just wacky. And Getz/Gilberto should have been much, much higher. The Miles Davis albums they had were kind of cliche anyways. I want to see Water Babies or Porgy and Bess somewhere on there. =)

I own 31, probably will end up getting 20-30 of those in the near future.

Yeah, I disagree with the list. But its still 1000% better than any Rolling Stone or VH1 list. Plus theres no possible list that could ever satisfy me when it comes to something like that. Even if I made the entire thing, I'd find fault with it in a day or two.

I like your thinking.

A few random observations:

Are You Experienced? over Village Green Preservation Society???

Loveless over The Queen Is Dead???

In The Aeroplane Over The Sea over Who's Next???

Why is Astral Weeks so low?

Man, I hate these lists...but they're so fun to bitch about.

Loveless deserves to be put ahead of any other post-1990 album. And Who's Next is a wretched, wretched album, such a piece of crap compared to The Who Sings My Generation, The Who Sell Out or Quadrophenia
