The only real difference between underground music and mainstream music, is that there's a smaller, finite amount of mainstream music.
So while there tends to be wackier more experimental crap, theres also much much much more shitty bands. |

It actually really bothers me when people say that underground music is "better," without any real proof, but naming one bad mainstream band and one good underground band. It's like saying all apples are bad because you ate one bad apple and they sell them everywhere, while all pomegranates are good because you had one good pomegranate and they're actually kinda hard to find.
Here's what I believe Good music is good and bad music is bad. I'm sick of all the underground, pretentious bull****.

^This. All one has to do is consider the millions of generic folk singers performing in coffee shops in a given week to realize that there's a lot of horribly, horribly mediocre underground music out there.
