The sweet_nothing music charity thread

Yesterday my computer crashed and I lost EVERYTHING, my programs, pictures, documents, and more importantly my music. I was starting to build a relatively respectable collection with 15GB but now I only I have 5. So if you guys could just help me out and send at least 1 album, that would really help me out.

My list of lost music (i will update it because I can't remember everything off the top of my head):

Adolescents- Self Titled
Coldplay- X&Y
NWA- Straight Outta Compton
Mos Def- Black On Both Sides
Blur- 13
The Smiths- Strangeways Here We Come
The Smiths- The Queen is Dead
Joy Division- Substance
MF Doom- Operation: Doomsday
Sonic Youth- Dirty
Black Flag- Damaged
The Libertines- Self Titled
Pink Floyd- Meddle

Those are the ones that come to mind right now, but any help would be greatly appreciated by me.

(please send in rar. zip files)

I'll send you an up of some good music as soon as I finish downloading 1564562311318 GB of porn.

And then watch it.

Fyrenza 10-13-2008 09:15 PM

Wow, i don't know if you would even want any of my music, not to speak of the fact that it isn't uploaded anywhere and i don't know HOW to upload it somewhere. Well, trying to get you some of mine would probably turn into a nightmare, so if you'll PM me with a name and snail-mail addy, i put some bucks in the mail, if that's okay?

Farfisa 10-13-2008 09:41 PM

It happens to the best of us... I have meddle somewhere, I'll be sure to up it for you when I find it.

sweet_nothing 10-13-2008 11:19 PM

Thanks for all the help so far, what sucks the worst was that most of that music was paid for. :(

Zarko 10-14-2008 03:00 AM

You mean you paid for the downloads?

Or do you have hard copies?

sweet_nothing 10-14-2008 03:01 PM

Paid for downloads off itunes. :\

jackhammer 10-14-2008 03:09 PM

FaSho 10-14-2008 03:10 PM

skips 10-14-2008 04:24 PM

If you bought it off of iTunes, I'm pretty sure there's a way to recover it for free. Anyways, I should probably be able to get you a few of those. I just had a computer crash last week, too.

Akira 10-14-2008 04:28 PM

you not have anything on your ipod or alternative mp3 player?

jackhammer 10-14-2008 04:39 PM

Posted many times but here it is again: Back up your music easily and cheaply by burning files to a DVDR. Approx 40 albums to one disc. Simple and cost/time effective.

I tried this...the only real problem I had with it was that when I went to put the songs back on my computer, it insisted on making all the songs from the disc have the same album title, and it wouldn't let me change it. Hmmm...

jackhammer 10-14-2008 04:55 PM

Copy each album individually back onto your PC. Never copy the whole DVD . windows is like a little baby when it recieves too many directives-it spit's it's dummy out.

Really? How would I go about doing that?

I would've, but I posted that about a year and a half ago.

sleepy jack 10-14-2008 11:58 PM

It wasn't original then either.

lucifer_sam 10-15-2008 12:01 AM

Sharp wit, son.

I've been reusing jackhammer's surprised monkey for a while now. I was actually wondering when he would call me out on it...

I'm not exactly sure. because I haven't done it myself, but I think it's either (after you've logged into your apple account), go to store -> checkfor available downloads or go to the downloads tab and it should provide you with a pop-up. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. If it says that you've already downloaded all of your purchases, contact Apple. I'm prett sure they can authorize you to redownload your music.

May I also suggest an external hard drive to back up. Also flash drives are so cheap that for things like pics etc that do not take up too much space a couple of 4 gig sticks are more than useful.

Well, I used to download songs (3-4 years ago) on my old computer. When I got a new computer I just clicked the download area and it gave me all of my old songs, so I'm just sorta going off of that.

sweet_nothing 10-15-2008 03:21 PM

I'm definitely going to try that and keep my fingers crossed

skips 10-15-2008 06:45 PM

If it doesn't work, sorry for getting your hopes up. Contact Apple if it doesn't.
