Is working w/Timbaland a career killer?

It seems that no matter where I go these days, or where I read, this guy's doing something w/someone. Now, I know he's supposedly the best hip hop producer out there, but it seems to me that lately, all these bands that go ape**** about working w/him have went to ****, and their album has too?

Take Duran Duran for instance, thats all we heard was how ****ing great their latest disc "Red Carpet Massacre" was, and how they were "jacked to work w/Timbaland..blah blah blah". Yet, that disc literally took a nice honking **** right in the toilet. Admittedly, I liked it, and own it(Falling Down is the jam). But my god, seems everything this guy touches either: turns to ****, or makes $$$, with the first being the way lately.

Now, word is, he's working w/Chris Cornell(who I actually like) on a track or 3........:yikes:. Might mean= No more CC after this.

I'm sure he resurrects careers and all, but still, is working w/this guy a career killer? You decide

All the artists that work with him end up sounding a lot more like timbaland than themselves....maybe people are getting sick of that?
And he does nosy in on all of the subsequent video clips.

Maybe if your music career is sinking, you can risk it by joining him just for the sake of saving it.

only artist i know of that's worked with him is bubba sparxx
and you might be right

2001 "Ugly" -- 1st smash single
2001 'Dark Days, Bright Nights' -- sold about 700K
2003 'Deliverance' -- ignored by fans
2006 'The Charm' -- disc ignored
2006 "Ms. New Booty" -- another smash single, with most of the sales being for Ringtones

both 'Deliverance' and 'The Charm' were given good to excellent reviews
and i think 'Deliverance' is fab -- i'll almost listen to the whole thing :)

but bubba started with timbaland on his Beat Club label
went almost to the top with his 1st release
and it's been downhill from there

too bad
but you know
it ain't nothing but some hick-hop

the timbaland / cornell single has been on youtube for months now. it's just as crappy as you expect.

i wouldn't say working with him is necessarily a career killer but it all depends on what you're looking to do with your career. if you need a hit that places on the charts then he's a good bet, if you need underground credibility then forget about him. cornell hasn't been relevant in years, his association with timbaland does nothing to change that.

If you want Timbaland murmuring all over you and whipping out his synths then fair play. Before his sound became pop law it was interesting and there were some good albums (ok, maybe just Aaliyah) but well past his sell-by date IMO.

.... and a Chris Cornell collab? eep

Quick

Someone ask him to do the next Keane album.

if you're in the position to work with Timbaland then your career probably wasn't gonna last too long anyways

he did a few tracks for Bjork on her album "Volta" and they sucked...it turned me off to that album, and im a big Bjork fan...

I've always been pretty ambivalent about him, personally.

I don't think he's a career killer, but I don't think he's going to do anything significant, long-term positive either.
