I read Pitchfork when I'm bored, but I don't take them seriously at all. Their reviews are full of shit and they rate boring albums highly, and good albums poorly.
That Brent Dicrescenzo son of a bitch, or whatever his name is, aside from writing the most pretentious reviews ever, gave De-Loused In The Comatorium a fucking 4.9. Although, this review made me laugh. "Clara Thompson: Uh, yes, Mr. Bush. Do you think that At the Drive In's new album, Relationship of Command, matches the intensity of the band's live show? George W. Bush: Thank you, Ms. Thompson. As Governor of Texas, I'm proud of these young men from El Paso. I take both young people and the arts very seriously, as I think my record shows. But, uh, the question here, really, is: who do you trust, and who do you think will get things done? I am a uniter, and not a divider. Also, you can't hear At the Drive In's afros on record."

Yeah, I always found it wierd that they gave it a ten. But Pitchfork reviews are sketchy before 2005ish, they seemed to be alot more liberal with the "10.0's". Regardless, I really like Animals because its some of the only 70's pink Floyd that isnt rammed down my throat, so it never lost too much of its luster, since I could listen to it on my own terms.
That Animals review, the writer seems to be drowning in his own nostalgia (the most insidious corruptor of great rock and roll). I feel like alot of the reason he gave it a 10 was because it reminded him of when he was a kid. |

I don't really even give a shit about the fact that he gave it a ten. What bothered me the most was it was
a) the FIRST and ONLY Pink Floyd album PF ever reviewed b) the reaction by PF readers to the review, even considering how subjective it was.
