Amon Tobin - Permutation

Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady

Dead Can Dance - Into The Labyrinth

Motorhead - No Sleep Til Hammersmith (Yeah live album, cheating, whatever)

Yann Tiersen is now moving up the charts quickly though. Hot Rats also unlucky.

Can't think of a top 4, so I'll just mention 4 of my favourites;

The Pogues - Rum, Sodomy and the Lash

The Fall - This Nation's Saving Grace

The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street

Steel Pulse - True Democracy

hmm top 4 i'll never tire of... no particular order.

yes it's a cheesy choice but really, i really never get tired of hearing it...

this next one is absolute gold to my ears, recorded 3 weeks before his death this album starts off with a great thelonious monk cover (epistrophy) and features my all time favourite piece of music (you don't know what love is). the one time dolphy speaks on this album also provided me with my mission statement in regards to music. a MASSIVE album on so many levels, anyone who even partially digs on free jazz or improvised music should definitely take a look at this one.

i know this one generally isn't considered this bands 'best' offering, but i don't care. the monumental 'spaceship landing' makes up for any perceived weaknesses earlier on the disc. my only complaint is the ridiculous amount of dead air before the hidden track 'day one'.

and last but not least, where no one said they had to be full length releases hehe it's the greatest EP i've ever heard.
