Jam Bands
Who can't love a great jam band? I was just wondering what everyones favorite jam band was and just hear some discussion about them.

Personally, I couldn't give half a sh!t for most jam bands' records, and that's my primary exposure to music.
However...nothing beats a good jam band live. I saw an jam act Saturday night and they were spectacular. And I was SOBER at the time.

They're too eclectic to simply dismiss as 'roots rock'. Or at least their newest album is - I can see how you get that from their earlier stuff.
What's your problem more specifically, moving past the genre... Last edited by Fruitonica; 09-23-2008 at 06:31 AM. |

Hmmm....
i find it hard to pin point i agreee with you to an extent with regards to genre but genre is stupid anyway if i was going to put him in a nice little box it would be roots rock i suppose i just find his music dull and he conjures up all these awful images of hippies and white people with dreadlocks and the amount of hype he gets in aus is ridiculous im an indie kid whose into post-punk its probably genetic

There's a lot of good live jam bands where I am now in the mountains of North Carolina. The downtown street music scene and drum circles are cool. Pretty much anyone can be a part of a jam band if they want to. I usually don't go see any at the venues because its too expensive, better to get the same experience downtown for free.

Yeah, me and my friends have a "jam band" of sorts. Its nice because the genre is so open ended that anyone can really play and its more of the connection with the music than playing an organized, set, piece of music.
