im starting to have second thoughts about this...knowing some of the people on this forum it will probably turn in to some kind of extension of the hall of fame where everyone is just like "No way love will tear us apart is SO much better then Shadowplay!!!!!!!!!"

Well each person gets 5 tracks to choose and the highest 5 chosen make the grade.
All it is really, is a recommendation into the artists best work, or most representative work. So it's not designed to be 'this is their best album and their best 5 tracks'.

Will there be one sticky thread for the whole project or one thread per artist, or...?
Would it be easier to host the lists on a different web page? Also, are the five tracks subject to change? Will there be occasional new voting (a new album is released, poor feedback for the selected tracks)? Still, good idea; just a few questions.

Well, ideally the main list would be a sticky. If not then I could host it on a blog or on RYM.com.
Depending on how many votes we get, a number would have to be sorted out, then the list goes up or it gets put on hold if not enough. It can then be brought back a month or two later, with the original votes still applying. If an artist releases an album that is very well received then we can look at re-voting, but each case would be looked at seperately.

Yeah the main list will be alphabetical and either have the full write up, or a link to the thread (where the first post will be re-edited to the write up)

Oh, and also if anyone wants to nominate artists to cover then please do so by a PM only.
You don't need to do a write up of reasons because it's not a hall of fame or anything like that. But please limit to around 5 at a time. I ain't gonna be impressed opening a PM and seeing 200 artists. Lol.

Ok, here is a sample of what a basic entry would look like:
Spunki Pelunki
"A perfect example of everything right and wrong with pop. On the one hand, these are genuine mega-jam hits, no denying these brothas can groove! On the other hand, such easily consumed fare can ultimately lead to indigestion once heavy rotation hits full-tilt. Like a hangover, although you enjoyed the par-tay, you wonder if it was worth it in the end. I conclude Yayyyy- Yessss!!!." ToneDeaf Top Five Recommended Tracks: 1) Iran Away From Your Lovin' (Wind Beneath My Wang) 2) Do You Have a Brand New Bag, Dad? (Tali-Banjo Tales) 3) My Chemical Ali Romance (Wind Beneath My Wang) 4) Hussein in the Membrane (Wind Beneath My Wang) 5) Hangin' Around (Tali-Banjo Tales) Recommended Album: Wind Beneath My Wang "Critics disliked them, fans loved them. Only one of two bands to sell out Shea Stadium, the other being The Beatles, and Spunki Pelunki did it quicker. In concert, they defined turning the amps up to 11, so even the fan sitting in the very last row would vibrate throughout the entire show and partial hearing loss." ILoveCrapMusic "I love their aesthetic method of being extremely prolific. It's led to some beautiful creations. I like how SP had the courage to move into higher production territory and explore new spaces." BadTaste "Spunki Pelunki make music that goes beyond just audio. The images that are conjured up while listening to their music are entire journeys, dreams and mythical adventures. It truly is a unique experience listening to the kings of progressive rock." NoClue ------------------------------ Of course, this is all open to suggestions and what not. As good as it all sounds....Spunki Pelunki is not real!

The review? Only a few minutes for the band and song names. The quotes were real ones but changed slightly.
