Winamp of course!
screenie I tried MediaMonkey, but I didn't like it much. What I do like about Winamp is how central the search bar is, a handy thing if you have a lot of music.

I don't actually..I play with the settings on my soundcard. No matter how many updates they have done with the Llama..they can't seem to get the EQ to work that well IMHO. But that's ok...my tunes sound great by turning the whole thing off. (uh...the EQ that is!)

Yeah that looks sweet. Sorta similar to Mediamonkey. Only differences are the big equalizer at the bottom, and the artist pic/info part in the bottom right (which looks pretty cool I have to admit.) Not sure if MM can be configured to do that stuff as well, I really need to mess with it more.
Does Foobar do the extra stuff like converting between audio types and ripping CDs etc also? |

look here to see what it can do: Browsing Foobar2000 on deviantART mediamonkey does offer limited customization, but with foobar it's much easier. and the foobar addon system is a lot simpler than mediamonkey's script system. plus it does conversion, replay gain, mass tagging, ipod sync, and all the rest.

Foobar sounds good since it's flexible, but what really matters to me is stuff that makes it easy to handle a lot of music.
In my Winamp screenie, you can see filters on the left hand menu for stuff liked Mixed artists compilations, decades, soundtracks and so on which helps you find what you're after in a big collection. Also as I've mentioned many times before, the search bar is smack in the middle which makes searching for stuff easy and I basically search for everything. Can foobar do any of that?

Thats my relatively simple foobay layout, and I dunno if it shows exactly what you are looking for Tore, but up the top left corner I have my album list which I can set up a number of different ways. Currently its set at genre but you can also set it to year, folder structure, artist or album. Along the top you can see multiple tabs which I just keep open sometimes, like jazz, and you can drag your compilations in one of those if you feel I suppose, if you don't feel like giving it a specific folder. |
