Replace the default UI with Columns UI first of all. You can download this and get loads of foobar components from their website:
foobar2000: Components Repository

Well I'm hooked already. I was able to sort at folder structure (very practical), I love the search function and it does sound better than winamp (sounds silly, but these programs do sound different from eachother

EQ is always flat here.
Try and compare it to Windows Media Player. I'm sure you'll hear the difference. EQ flat, of course.

Flat
![]() Edit : Here's an idea .. Someone should make a foobar plugin that changes EQ settings according to genre or style!

I always use flat the whole time, no matter which genre. It just sounds a lot clearer and instruments sound more natural and dynamic. Excessive bass and treble can make music sound very muted and muddy sometimes.

Installed and played around with foobar yesterday. I like the ability to customize everything but adding themes, album artwork, etc., is far too difficult/time consuming for someone with basic computer knowledge like myself.
It just wasn't worth the trouble, IMO. In the end, I went with WinAmp, which seems to me like a happy medium between foobar and iTunes, especially when you add the plug-in that allows playback of Apple Lossless files. |
