Richard Wright has died

Greatest band ever to millions.
Lets take time to discuss Pink Floyds timeless music which fits no genre other then Godliness.
Perhaps there is some recordings to be released still.

R.I.P. Richard Wright

Richard William Wright, a self-taught pianist and keyboardist best known for his long career with the legendary Pink Floyd died today following a battle with cancer. Though not as prolific a songwriter as his bandmates Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, he did write significant parts of the music for classic albums such as Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, as well as for Pink Floyd's final studio album The Division Bell.

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Floyd founder Wright dies at 65

R.I.P. Richard, I think I'm going to have a Pink Floyd marathon tonight.

right-track 09-15-2008 10:47 AM

Merged with ADELE's as his was first.

R.I.P Richard Wright

Janszoon 09-15-2008 11:05 AM

That really sucks. I always thought he was really talented and probably the most underrated member of the band. :(

ADELE 09-15-2008 11:39 AM

From what I have been hearing he was underated as the band member.
When you consider that floyd was based so much on melody and instrumentals I think his contribution to the band should be explored more.
Sensitive made the point well.

lucifer_sam 09-15-2008 12:10 PM

Oh my God. I had no idea. His sound made Meddle and DSOTM the albums that they are.

R.I.P. Richard Wright

I think I need an honorary marathon of Floyd.

boo boo 09-15-2008 12:50 PM

Truly sad.

One of my favorite keyboards, and in my opinion the most underrated Floyd member. He wrote some of their most memorable songs (like Great Gig in the Sky) and he had a great voice, will truly be missed.

I was so hoping they would have a reunion someday too, dispite how unlikely it was.

Lame. :(

jackhammer 09-15-2008 12:54 PM

Fuck. Devastated.

His last contribution to Pink Floyd:

spark10036 09-15-2008 01:31 PM

I'm heartbroken...
I really loved him and his music...

I'm going to have "Echoes" on repeat tonight

Fletch 09-15-2008 02:45 PM

He was a significant part of an immortal band. R.I.P.

jaugustat 09-15-2008 03:42 PM

Very underrated. I felt he deserved so much more. RIP

sweet_nothing 09-15-2008 03:45 PM

Awwww damn, he's off to the great gig in the sky now. :(

Double X 09-15-2008 03:48 PM

Dam...RIP, he definitly had a good life, even though Waters was a **** to him (Waters was a **** to everyone though). What cancer was it? It didn't say in the article.

Wifey Boozer 09-15-2008 04:26 PM

Jesus Christ. That made me tear up. Everything's ****ing dying. :(

It was a very short battle though.

imdesigner 09-15-2008 05:47 PM

this is very unfortunate to hear. it hasnt been long since i started listening to the floyd. but ever since i bought the wall and dark side they have been on constant rotation.

Double X 09-15-2008 05:49 PM

Dang, sounds like it was a stomach cancer or something.

Seltzer 09-15-2008 06:42 PM

R.I.P. Richard Wright. Most definitely underrated.

Alfred 09-15-2008 06:48 PM

RIP.

A great musician.

jackhammer 09-15-2008 06:52 PM

I did have a little tear in my eye when I heard the news but fuck it. Floyd mean a great deal to me personally.

ADELE 09-15-2008 07:13 PM

I think pink floyd have the ability to touch a timeless part of us that we all carry.
The higher part of our consciences.
This is a sad day indeed.

jackhammer 09-15-2008 07:31 PM

Listening to 'Dogs' for the awesome keyboard solo now.

zekethefreak 09-16-2008 12:49 AM

The thing I probably liked most about Rick, apart from his playing, was his humility in that band. When everyone, including the leading personalities in the band, were fighting over who was better than whom, Rick was comfortable being in the background, just doing his job.
Best wishes to his family...

kyleargyle 09-17-2008 07:39 AM

This was pretty shocking to hear...I didn't even know he was sick.
