Alphabetically all the way. If I were to sort it by genre, I would constantly be forgetting which genre I had put what in. Plus, I'd probably have to label somewhere where each genre begins and ends. Too much work for me.

Well, nowadays, my Mp3 player does most of the organising for me to be honest..... alphabwtically by artist and alphabetically within the artist's given folder.... :-)

OP, are you talking about where I put the music files.

I organize my music genre wise and then alphabetically within each genre.

When it comes to my physical collection, the order in which the genres are placed is down to what genres I like the most.

On my computer the genre folders are sorted alphabetically.

I organize my music genre wise and inside the genre I organize them into band and release date.

I have most of my music on iTunes, but my CD's are done alphabetically by genre, and if I have more than one of a certain band, I organise them by release date :)

2) this music is good, i should listen it for a while!
3) this music is great, i should download it!

That isn't organizing your music. That's deciding what music you're going to get and deciding whether you should keep it..

CDs - Organised loosely by genre and then alphabetically.
Mp3s - Alphabetical.

I'm ridiculously OCD about things being in order and the thought of me going "I want to listen to *X* today" and not being able to find the CD in less than 5 seconds fills me with horror.
