It's also damn heavier than the majority of that list, which is impressive considering it's a trip-hop album.

I used to like a lot of that stuff (and I still like RATM, and my guilty pleasure is Blink-182), but I kinda grew out of it, partially thanks to this forum and realized that it's mainstream radio rock sh!t.

I think the darkness is what makes Mezzanine so heavy. It's more than just the darkness, it's the honesty in the darkness. I don't think the music could have made such an impact if there wasn't true emotion behind it all. Lack of honesty is what makes most "alt. rock/metal" so weak in comparison.

I wouldn't reduce it to "mainstream radio rock ****". Just because something gets popular enough to be mainstream radio play doesn't automatically make it garbage. If you are using that logic then bands on that list like Mudhoney, Nirvana, Van Halen, and Soundgarden are all ****? Come on now, try to sound a little less pretentious.

Haha, its not often but from time to time i hear them. And here in Pittsburgh there is a great station (91.3) that plays almost anything.
