My band do a song I wrote called 'kill el duce'... it's basically a song from courntey's point of view saying "kill el duce, he'll get in the way"

It's our heaviest song atm.

Rap music is all about rhyming words and talking to a rhythm about
1) prostitutes or prostitution
2) gangs and crime
3) sex
4) your ethnic group

I actually find it sad that someone who loves music enough to be in a band takes pride in being so pig ignorant about other forms of expression and music.

You should be a like a musical sponge soaking up the very best of every genre out there finding inspiration in things from many different areas , but instead you choose to dismiss these things without putting any effort to try to understand them just because you dislike a couple of things you've heard in the mainstream charts.

I hope to God that I never get to hear your band because bands filled with people with your attitude are why there are so many crap , boring and unoriginal bands around today.

If I take away the insult you gave me... I agree... I should be like that... but I will admit right now that I do like some of Eminem's work... and I should really absorb some stuff on my own terms... I've been forced to listen to rap etc. through chavs forcing it on me in the common room. I've taken lessons from pop music before (which the guy who produced my band's 2 track demo) pointed out. (I did so subconsciously though).

AND ALSO, if you think that it is just button pressing and computer made beats..well again your wrong. There are COUNTLESS artists that use all live instruments. Take the well known Roots for example. There drummer Quest Love is probably better than most mainstream pop drummers out there. Guitarist...? Also ****ing amazing and could hold his own anywhere he went. Lyrics?... yea definitly all about what you said. And that's a well known group you wouldn't even have to get off your lazy ass to know about.

Screwed up life? I'm head boy in 6th form. Vocalist/guitarist in a recording band. I've an IQ of 144 (mensa tested), I have a great girlfriend. I'm really happy (apart from my dog dying on my lap on monday ) and I'm feeling more creative than ever... how is that screwed up?

I really don't care for rap music, but that's the sum total of what I hear from the rubbish is the list of those four things.

El Duce sang about raping people in his brand of 'rape rock'. I don't think grunge_junkie's comments on rap music is really reflective of Eldon Hoke's (and The Mentors') brand of music.
