The stereotypes I've gotten have all proved true for the emos, chavs and indies who I've met. Sorry if this offends, but they're my personal experiences and all these groups have insulted and attacked my musical preferences. So you can see where the animosity and the hatred begins. But I genuinely dislike the music.

I judge music by how it sounds, not how some of it's fans act/look.

If we're judging by sound, I still very much can't listen to pop, chav, indie or emo music... I find it all the bands involved sound the same and the sound just doesn't appeal to me in any way.

Again, your lack of knowledge is your problem. You hear certain songs from certain bands and you think that 'this is how all Indie music sounds' or 'why is pop music so ****?' You've met some kids with black make-up and it makes you hate all Emo music and fans, some scruffy kid and hate Indie and it's listeners. If you educated yourself and opened your mind and ears then your hatred wouldn't be so big as you'd see it was ill founded.

You don't have to like any of that music, but at least make sure you know about it and so don't sound foolish when trying to voice your opinions.

Whatever floats your boat.

Diversity isn't really a word someone should use after posting that they don't like Classical, Indie, Emo, 'chav music' etc.

I don't /mind/ classical, but I don't like listening to it too much. I don't like it being forced on me, but I prefer not having to listen to it.

I think what's missing here is humor. There's stuff to make fun of about every genre of music. Ripping on Emo or Rap or whatever with tongue firmly in cheek and the understanding that there are things that are equally ridiculous in one's own music of choice plays a big part in making the criticisms come off as entertaining instead of antagonistic.

I don't intend to be funny. The most humour I give is the pictures that come with the posts. I'm serious about my opinions.

Why be so serious?

Near perfect joker quote.

Well I tend to take music seriously... I could be funny, but people would probably not like my attempts at being funny and would probably be put down to me 'attacking' people maliciously.

I do know about it, I know all about the history of indie music. I do my homework. I've listened to a good chunk of it... and I just don't like it... or at least not a lot of it... I quite like Blur for example.

Want me to post the 'artists' section of my ipod to show my diversity?
