100 Things That I Love About Music
Yes I am mirroring Urban's (admittedly magnificent) 100 but I thought I would put the optimism back in music and revel in the good things about music.
#100. Hearing a piece of music for the first time The CD looks intriguing. A friends recommendation. A music blog find. No matter what the situation, that first listen of a great album is a cause for celebration. It's a personal triumph. You have found something that is now part of your life and hopefully forever. Whether it lift's your spirits, connects with you emotionally or just get's your damn foot tapping there are only a few things in life that can top that first listen.

mmm, #100 is truth. I look back on those memories as I do the great lays I've had. When I hear a song and I get the chills because it is so beautiful while my mind just becomes a sponge, I no longer realize anything that is happening around me and I soak it all in.
I remember the first time I heard "Love, Reign O'er me"... my mind was having orgasms, it was splendid. These lists are like the battle between good and evil!!! We love to think about the bad stuff but rarely take the time to remember the good.

Agreed. I think it's easier to tire of albums that you love right off the bat. Albums that require a few plays to really get into tend to be the ones that become your real favorites.
