I still tape songs off alterative radio shows. There's something really special about doing it that you dont get from downloading mp3s. Yeah cassettes kick ass

Every once in a while I get nostalgic and drag out my old tapes from my closet. Anyone else remember how those higher-quality clear plastic tapes from the the late 80s and early 90s had a serious problem with all the type rubbing off just from handling them? I have some tapes that have no writing left on them at all at this point.

I think you're the first person I've met who shares a love for cassettes! My Walkman broke years ago but I'm still holding onto all my old cassettes...much more romantic than the ultra-sleek CD's. The sound is warmer too.

I'm one of those people who can't just settle at listening to the music of an artist or band.
Once someone has caught my attention I'm doomed to delve into the individuals character.
Nothing fascinates me more than learning about some of the great music individuals, their personalities, life and lifestyles of artists like Bowie, Curtis, Byrne, Eno, Strummer etc etc and especially the countless and colourful soul artists out there.
It's almost an obsession and learning about them adds another dimension while listening to their songs. Love it.

I like a song, I wanna know who did it, what album it was from. I wanna know what the inspiration for the track/album was, where the band/artist where in their life at that point. What influenced them to become musicians etc etc.

Hmm, I enjoy anonymity when it comes to music. I rarely read biographies, and when I do, I skip over the personal details to read about the recording sessions for albums and that kind of thing.

I would just hate knowing all about the person that Elvis Costello wrote "Alison" for. (Yes, Alison might be a composite/imagined, etc. but you get my point). Girl From The North Country stopped seeming as special to me when I found out who Dylan wrote it about.

I'll watch anything to do with music.
