None of those are fashions, all of them are genres of music except indie which is a record label status.

Indie isn't a record label status, it never was, it was always a sound, generally a crap one. Most popular indie bands are signed to major labels but are called indie because indie fans sux at life.

Indie = being on an independent label. Just because a bunch of trendy starbuck goers decided Death Cab for Cutie are indie because of their singer wears trendy glasses doesn't change the fact they're on a major label.

you can say that for anybody who isn't ridiculously educated on what a certain genre actually is. but that doesn't mean i can't look at a kid who is obviously "emo" and say, "that little *** is so emo." haven't you ever heard anyone described as gothic? that's just a reflection of the music they listen to. and we all know that all those kids with the *** bangs that cover up one eye are all emo
