Appetite For Destruction was one of the greatest albums of the 80s.

Shame they had to go spoil it by making more.

Fenixpunk 01-12-2005 02:46 PM

appetite is a classic

gnr lies - half is older recordings from when they were on a label called uzi suicide, that portion of the album is far better than the new stuff they did on that album IMO

illusions 1&2 - both good, hard to pick a fav between the two, get them both

The Spaghetti Incident is another album that, well, musically isnt their best, but it contains mostly old punk rock covers from bands like the damned, misfits, fear, new york dolls, uk subs, and even a charles manson tune which was enough for me to go out and get it.

Waynegrow 01-12-2005 05:53 PM

Never listen to the Spaggetti insudent one its garbage!!!!!!!!!!

Get 1, its got more quality, and "Perfect Crime" is borderline metallic. You cna't go wrong with metal...unless you go prog metal and then you'll have a ton of bands Fing it up (mudvayne)

Guns N' Roses is the best rock band ever in my opinion. I have Appetite for Destruction and Greatest Hits. I think you should get greatest hits. it's got sweet child o' mine, which has amazing guitar in the end by the way, patience, paradise city and all the other greats. i agree, it's great rock.

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-16-2005 03:50 PM

Appetite For Destruction IS their greatest hits album.

Nothing else is worth bothering with

Greg 01-16-2005 04:00 PM

Bits of Lies is good but i agree. Lost all interest after that.

draven 04-26-2005 12:57 PM

Did anyone hear that new song IRS by guns n roses

It seems to be the second half of the song. The song is rumored to be six minutes long.

If so, what did you think of it?

http://illitpress.com/video/files/irs_clean.mp3

Gonna call the President
Gonna call in the Private Eye
Gonna get the IRS
Gonna need the FBI

There’s not anymore that I can do
All the legions said to me
I’ll follow you
When you plead the fifth, that’d be anytime it’s true

Wouldn’t be the first time I've been wrong
Wouldn't be the last time should I’m gone
All the rumors I can tell,
Something’s didn't work so well

Well anyway, it feels the same
When you first told me you were gone
So long ago, but I've been here long
To all the luck gettin out of the debt
A fact that you've got to hear worst yet
When I need another favorite I take
It means you might have been caught anyway
Can’t believe that I was out there at all
Couldn’t see it coming all along

Well it’s true...ooh...I am,
But don’t forget
Gonna call the President
Gonna call myself a Private Eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI

Gonna make this a federal case
Gonna win and I’ll get outta your face
Readmitted with your morning anew
With Police, hang over, and their headlines true now

I've been too sure to offer my help
I set it up again dressed as somebody else
If I’m stumbling along the road
Feel like I'll never get ya out of this song
Well I'm just too sad to kill
Maybe like I just walked in my skin
They'll be waiting on me I know
Like a broken record for so long

What can I do?
Ooh, oh.
I'm Gonna call the President,
I'm gonna call a private Eye
Gonna get the IRS,
Gonna get myself the FBI.

What shall I do
If I gave my heart to you
It's such a crime you now it's true

Gonna call the president
Gonna make myself a private eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI

Gonna make this a federal case
Gonna win and I’ll get outta your face
Readmitted with your morning anew
With Police, hang over, and their headlines true now

There's not anymore that I can do

hate the band with a passion that sizzles every sinew in my body.

draven 05-05-2005 10:18 AM

Gnr are one of the biggest and best bands ever. In the early 90s they were the biggest band in the world since the beatles. Since the early 90s no band has come close to being as big as gnr was.

well there ya go.
i think they were superb. Slash one of the greatest guitarists i've ever had the luck to hear. Axl rose sounded like a cat, but it just added to the music. What more can i say? oh yea, live and let die - one of the best covers ever, better than the original and the paul mccartney cover!

Sneer 05-05-2005 03:23 PM

paul mcCartneys was the original

Tommyrocker 05-05-2005 03:25 PM

(scratches head), i dunno what the **** song i was thinking of. oh well, still, simplified - guns n roses better than the original

blueeyedson 05-06-2005 11:51 AM

Yeah, GnR was really cool. I listen mostly to 60's and 70's rock but these guys were something else.
As for my fav songs of theirs:
Don't Cry, Novemer Rain, Civil War, Sweet Child O' Mine, Live and Let Die, Patience, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Sympathy For the Devil.....I know a few are covers but still

soundgardenrox 05-06-2005 12:39 PM

I like GN'R they're a great band, but yeah nirvana was alot bigger than gn'r in the 90's. But my fav songs are Sweet Child, Welcome to the Jungle, Rocket Queen, Knockin on heavens door, live and let die, and guess thats about it

SteelyDan79 05-06-2005 05:11 PM

The Guns were a really good band...in their heydays...my favourite songs are
Paradise city, Welcome to the jungle, you could be mine, don`t cry as well as sweet child o` mine and november rain...but i hate axl rose...what a f***in ******* and it pleases me to see the others ride so well with "velvet revolver"...anyone into "chinese democracy"??:D

You are crazy if you think any of those bands were bigger than guns n roses. I would say you know nothing about music if you really believe that. Its not even close. Guns n roses WERE the biggest band in the world since the beatles. Nirvana were not even close to being as big as guns n roses were in the early 90s.

Here is just a little proof for you. Guns n Roses headlined the biggest show in the world in 1991 (rock n rio II). Were you even old enough when the UYIs were released? Look at the hype the day those albums were released at midnight, the lines were insane, and no band since the beatles and or after that day in 1991 had seem soo many people waiting in line for a rock albums sold in that one night/day.

Gnr are the only act to hold the top two album spots in both the UK and US on the week of releasing both records with the UYIs.

Over 7 million people saw guns n roses on the UYI tour, that is more than all those bands you mentioned combined.

If nirvana was bigger than guns n roses in the early 90s, how come in 1992 guns n roses headlined the MTV music awards and not nirvana?

Also guns n roses sold more albums those all of those bands (including nirvana) in the 90s with less albums (gnr only really had 3 real albums)

Here are just a few show dates that guns n roses played in 1993 and you try and tell me with a straight face that any of those bands you mentioned were bigger.

May 27th, 1992 - 75, 000 people at the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart, Germany.
June 21st, 1992 - The band flies to Basel, Switzerland.
Another sold-out show at the 50,000 capacity St Jakob Stadium in Basel, Switzerland.
June 27th, 1992 - Show in Turin, Italy at the Della Alpi Stadium in front of 65,000 fans.
June 3rd, 1992 -Hannover, Germany to play at the Niedersachsen Stadium in front of a crowd of 60,000.
November 25th, 1992 - Caracas, Venezuela. In the absence of a suitable venue, the show is played outside one in a parking lot in front of 45,000. The biggest show ever staged in Venezuela.
Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv, Israel. Over 40 000 fans had gathered to see GN'R at the biggest concert held in Israel.
June 12th, 1993 - Show in front of 31 000 at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm, Sweden
June 22nd, 1993 - Played in front of 50,000 at Wildparkstadion in Karlsruhe, Germany.
July 8th, 1993 - Nancy, France for a show in front of 20,000 Zenith arena.
July 16th, 1993 - Play in front of 70,000 at River Plate Stadium.

Yeah like any of those bands even came close to playing in front of that many people at any one show. I am sorry but guns n roses were the biggest band since the beatles in the early 90s.

Merkaba 05-06-2005 10:51 PM

lol woah burn. game over guys.

But i dont agree with biggest since the beatles. Thats pushing it.

pastor of muppets 05-07-2005 05:02 AM

yeh thats some impressive stats there but i still agree with ledzepstu...

Its not really pushing it at all. I am not saying they were as big as the beatles, but if any band came close to being as popular during their time period it was the guns n roses.

How can you still agree with him? Its not even close. Try and prove to me that nirvana was bigger than guns n roses in the early 90s? What is your basis for that? Give me some figures, because nirvana sold less albums, played in front of less people and nirvana had less fans. The thing that you do not undertand is guns n roses were the biggest band in the world from about 1988/89-1993.

nirvana took an underground, unknown genre of music and blasted into the mainstream, changing the sound of music for the next 5 years. nevermind alone has sold 15 million copies worldwide compared to appetite for destructions 14. use your illusion comes nowhere near.

First off you are wrong. Nevermind sold 15 million world wide while AFD sold 15 million in the USA ALONE not world wide.

Lets do just US sales since world wide sales nirvana does not even come close.

AFD sold 15 million in the USA.
Lies EP sold 5 million
UYIs sold 14 million (7 million each)

Bleach sold 1 million
Nevermind sold 10 million in the usa
IN utero sold 5 million in the usa

You really need to get your facts straight before you spew out this BS.
If you are going to lie then dont even both trying to show that nirvana was bigger.

Also nirvanas first album bleach didnt do squat, it was only when other bands like pearl jam, AIC and soundgarden came on the scene that grunge music took off. Even when grunge was at its peak in 92/93 guns n roses were still bigger than any grunge band or any band for that matter and I showed that in my previous post.

He was a much bigger ******* than Axl. Hell he and his wife smocked crack while she was preggo. Plus he spat on Elton Johns piano before he played Nov RAin with gnr back in 92

stonedpath 05-07-2005 01:49 PM

I think everyone would be a lot happier if Axl shot himself in the head, instead of Kurt. :)
