A little off-topic: Ron Thal! What a musician, mates! Congratulations to Axl Rose on having got hold of him! Of course I'd like the old members to get back together and tour, and record new stuff; but seeing Ron Thal jamming with Guthrie Govan on youtube has been a heavenly experience!

Okay, it's now on, this has to be a thing. lol Can't just go through life thinking the above without expecting to go unopposed. What are we, trying for Herman Li? Some Ibanez 24th fretting? No, Guns N' Roses rocked, who cares about fun when Guns N' Roses knew how to have fun, and wrote songs they liked? If you want to prance, by all means, The Darkness are an option in Europe and their whole Tour De Prance ffs, but what urchin has time for that? In a world where you can buy drugs and pussy and pussy and drugs, all other bands are a joke. It's like gangster rap with a kick ass guitar. Circa 2004 |

And yes there are quite a few people here who think that GNR is garbage. One of them may or may not have written the post that you're reading right now. |

I'm also looking for a Republica thread that's not ancient or a good place to talk about BritPop with no luck. |

The rockstars who really lived the times were Poison, Cinderella, and Motley Crue. GNR were too into taking themselves Led Zep serious to capture the moment. As time moves on, GNR become more of a footnote to something that was already done a million times better. The other bands mentioned were really a part of something fresh and new. Even today, GNR gets this kind of undeserved Aerosmith nod. But the legacy, like the facade, is slowly melting. The purity of Motley Crue especially, make them the real legends.

The other problem with bands were sounding poppy, with power chords and big hair and then modern 80's guitars... I mean, Slash was right, who else but him back then used one? I guess all those bands that lived the times back then all thought they were too good for a Gibson Les Paul/wanted something easier to play/wanted a different sound than the tried and tested and true, who knows? Who cares? I like Guns N' Roses. (love that guitar)... Last edited by Lesbian With A Gun; 02-05-2018 at 09:07 PM. |
