however Slash has more musical accomplishments.. you know.. he made his name because of what he's done musically.
Yes, but popularity means nothing if we're actually talking about who's better.

Oh and sorry, not to sound like I'm jumping on you. That wasn't really directed just at you, I've just heard a lot of people whine that GNR doesn't have Slash anymore and the like.

By the way, you have heard some of Buckethead's work outside of GNR, right? He only had writing credits on maybe 2 or 3 songs on the album.

For a decent taste of his solo stuff.

Slash is so overrated, Noel Gallagher could probably outplay him.

Excuse me but it's near to childish to say "How anyone could think Slash is better than Buckethead blows my mind".

What makes one guitarist ?
If we are talking about technique, one can say buckethead is better ...

Rock Guitarist for me is guitar player, composer, improviser, stage performer, human being - personality...
Summing it up, Slash, for me, is much more ahead of buckethead. But I acknowledge that my option is highly subjective, as anyone else's.

in all honesty i think his goldtop is a little chiche'd. i mean... good try, but a billion other people have goldtops. how about a red mettalic paul with a white line going through the skinny part. hell yeah.

I think my post feels a little weird and out of context now that its been moved here and not in the original thread, but whatever.

Generally, if a single person plays the guitar, that makes one guitarist. For an example of this phenomenon, you may want to look into the two men we've been discussing - but not simultaneously, as that would make two guitarists.

Summing what up? There was next to no actual content in that post except that, if I read your near stream of consciousness rambling correctly, you think that because he wears a mask and has the whole act to him this somehow makes him a worse guitarist because he doesn't have "personality" or something, which is much more childish than anything I've said.

If you think technical ability is all Buckethead has, I have very strong doubts you've listened to more than a few songs by him on Youtube or wherever.

If Slash didn't have the top hat, hair, glasses, he wouldn't be near as cool or idolized. He would have just been another great guitar player. Its his charisma and get-up that makes him so popular and well known.

I never thought Slash was any better of a guitarist than the guitarists in other bands of his time. I liked early GnR, but for the whole sound and not specifically for him. He's nothing special to me.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
