I am an alien from outer space.
give me three albums to introduce me to your world. I'm an inquisitive little bastard also, so tell me why.
|
Nice to meet you, Mr. er.... Alein. Well, the three albums I would suggest to you would be as follows:
1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles - This is most likely the greatest concept album of all time. When it came out, it was the most unique masterpiece anyone had ever heard, and it's had a major influence on popular music. This album was voted the #1 album of all time, according to Rolling Stone Magazine. 2. The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd - This avant garde-style album has to be one of the most creative musical works of art ever. It is currently tied for the second best selling album of all time worldwide, with over 40 million copies sold. Also, it spent 14 years on Bilboard's top 200 album chart, which is the record for any album in history. 3. Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin - This is a classic rock standard. You will commonly hear every track of this album on classic rock stations. This is arguably the greatest Led Zeppelin album. It contains the legendary rock anthem "Stairway to Heaven," along with many other classics such as "Rock & Roll" and "When The Levee Breaks." This album was rated the #1 Greatest British Album by Classic Rock Magazine and was also named the #1 Greatest Album by Guitar World. And that's my list. I hope you and all other extraterrestrials will enjoy our planet's music! We have plenty of it! |

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust This dude was probably an alien as well so you might have bumped into him. Songwriting at it's most magical and glamorous.
Daft Punk - Discovery It's your first time on earth so obviously we should party it up a bit, have a few drinks and a few dances, this album is perfect. Big Black - Songs About Fucking May as well through you into the deep end as well :D This album represents all that is brilliant in heavy, raw music but is yet so easy to like. |
Loveless - My Bloody Valentine
The Killers - Hot Fuss The Velvet Underground + Nico No reason... Simply because |

Pink Floyd - Animals
Ya, you heard it. Screw everything else by them and listen to this first! Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse So ya...there's this part of my brain(and ears) which listens only to black metal :usehead: Take it or leave. Peter Tosh - Legalize it Marijuana anyone?:D Fun Reggae! |
The Fall - Grotesque (After The Gramme)
To show you what it's really like to live on earth. Can - Ege Bamyasi To show you how hypnotic rhythm can get. Pussy Galore - Dial M For Motherfucker Loud , abrasive & fun with a bucketload of attitude , coolness and swagger. everything rock n roll should be. |

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds : Because alien life should understand the beauty humankind is capable of, and this album accomplishes that. Gorgeous, lush pop melodies, achingly perfect harmonies and great lyrics.
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV : The definition of driving rock music. They should get to experience the potent energy of fairly perfect rock. The Violent Femmes - The Violent Femmes : The perfect punk album, in my opinion. Full of attitude, angst yet doesn't take itself too seriously. Fabulous music, too. |
Backstreet Boys - S/T: Leave...
Kevin Federline - Playing With Fire Earth... The Osmonds - Osmond Family Christmas Album Bastards! |
1 Dark Side of The Moon
Nobody really needs a reason to say "Why would you give him that?". As much as people can argue about opinion, rest assured in facts that were already mentioned; most significantly the top 200 for 14 years. That means people from different generations were still thinking "oh my god this is amazing" enough to keep it on a top selling album list for 14 god damn years straight. It doesnt hurt that its critically aclaimed as the greatest album of all time by just about every other source available. 2 Ludwig Van's Greatest Hits Compelation! Even if it was in our barbaric past, we produced music that was honestly more beautiful than anything that has come out since. There is something so true about music that follows patterns the likes only pure mathematics knows. Classical music isnt cluttered by words and their many definitions and interpretations. It isnt so focused on a single person and instrument. It just becomes like this living thing that goes around kicking ass and sounding like something that comes on when your going to heaven or hell or purgatory or growing back as a tree or becoming one with the universe (close your eyes and pick one). Oh ya, did I mention he did part of this while he was completly deaf. 3 Electric Ladyland Because this **** will literally melt your ****ing face... because thats exactly what it will sound like... because thats what he thought was happening... because thats how he plays... because he was on acid... because he was a ****ing alien! The Earth never knew such raw talent. Music is what ran through his blood and what came from his soul. He has a terrible voice and is still an awesome singer, not like that mattered though because his best voice came from the guitar... and every alien in this damn galaxy should know about Jimi. |
Dear alien, start here:
Der Ring des Nibelungen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The most epic piece of art ever made in any category. |
Enter the Wu-tang (36 chambers) - You need to be introduced to hip hop, and this is widely regarded as a touchstone of the genre. You can't do much better.
Electric Ladyland - In my opinion the pinnacle of rock n roll , Hendrix is the greatest artist of all time in my opinion and this is his magnum opus. Also, jgd's reasoning is pretty solid haha. Demon Days - It's a modern classic and basically crams as many styles into itself as possible, giving you a complete earthling experience. And at time it creates a pretty 'alien' soundscape. |

PINK FLOYD: THE WALL You may as well let our alien friend know how messed up the human race is.
PORCUPINE TREE: STUPID DREAM Play him "A Smart Kid", just in case most of the human race has destroyed itself via apocalypse. Errr... leave it for him to discover. I forget, we've all been wiped out. Except the "smart kid". CHINA CRISIS: WORKING WITH FIRE AND STEEL Let him know that even though the world has gone to Hell, we were capable of creating beautiful things... |
Bob Dylan- The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan; Proves that humanity does, indeed, have a conscience.
The Sex Pistols- Spunk; Because even though (most) people know what's right, the world is still fucked up. Johnny Ace- Memorial Album; Not everything is politics and hatred, and to complement some of the more tender songs on "Freewheelin'", here's a collection of songs that basically define an emotion we humans call "love." |
