11 : Winehouse

I should have done this around the same time as Doherty but never mind.
I hate Winehouse for the total opposite reason I hate Doherty. Doherty is a no talent waster , Winehouse has talent in buckets but is pissing it away.
I might even have sympathy for her but I can't seem to find any as all of her problems are self induced. I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for someone for someone who spends the night shooting anything & everything with her scummy rich kid who never grew up husband and then cheating people who have paid money to see her by cancelling or putting on half assed concerts.

I keep on seeing people telling the media to leave her alone but let's be honest if she didn't do any of this stuff they wouldn't be interested and would leave her alone anyway.

I'm bored of this soap opera now.

I disagree completely.

This should be number one!

10 : Politicians Who Use Music To Show How 'Down With the Kids' They Are

Apparently a young David Cameron's favourite band ever was The Smiths. I know this because he keeps on going on about it all the time , so much so he decided to visit the Salford Lads Club , as seen on the inside cover of The Queen Is dead. And many LOLS were had when the local Labour party showed up and protested about his visit and stopped him getting a publicity shot outside the building.
I'm sure i'm not the only one who wonders why , if he was indeed such a fan of the band that meant so much to him why on earth he would become a Thatcherite and join the Tory party. Somehow I get the impression he may have slighty missed the point somewhere.

Apparently he also loves The Killers and regually plays them on his IPod.

Cunt.

As for Blair much was made of him being in a band in his younger days. Looking at that picture all I can assume where that this band were some godawful prog rock tribute band who probably played Genesis covers.
ROCK N ROLL eh Tone !!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol yeah it happens

Reminds me of McCain and Obama recently (August sometime) releasing their list of favourite songs, and its obvious enough that they were picking the safies and targeting different audiences...

Wonder what Cameron thought of "Margaret On The Guilloutine."

Bet you weren't expecting to see them here.

As a fan of The Fall I am in a constant turmoil. You see there are times when I listen to the band and I really wish they were more like a conventional band. I would love nothing more to see Mark E Smith go out and do a tour where he plays a greatest hits set , records it properly and releases it as a double live album instead of having a constant stream of badly recorded live stuff that only covers about 2 or 3 albums. I wondered why it was that I should have so few Fall bootlegs considering I love the band so much. And then I realised it was because Smith has pretty much released them all officially.
Smith doesn't do looking back into the past. The Fall's live shows are dominated by whatever 2 albums they just recorded plus a load of stuff you won't here till the next album comes out. But he'll tease you by throwing in one classic from the past. Recently it was 'Wings' off Perverted By Language , before that it was 'The Man Who's Head Expanded' and he's been known to throw in 'New Big Prinz' off the Kurious Oranj album as well. It's like teasing you with scraps , he knows people really want to hear this stuff but to him it's what he's doing now thats important , and so it should be. I'd also love to see him do some collaborations , some of the stuff he's done with other people has been brilliant , but he's never done it with The Fall. The whole beauty of the Fall is him finding these musicians off the street , throwing them into the band without even bothering with auditions or practice and just see what happens. It might sound amateurish or ramshackle but it makes them still one of the most spontaneous & compelling bands around still even after 30 years.

But the biggest irony in all this is if they were ever to become a more conventional band it would destroy everything that is special about the band. It would stop them being most uncompromising & unique band around and it would stop them being everything that they go against.
And that is the most frustrating thing at all.
So #7:

"The Fall

I really love them. I wish they did some thing differently, but I totally see why they don't and more power to them. That's what makes them awesome. What was I talking about? I forget. Anyway, the Fall are #7 of best things on Earth (bet you thought they'd be #1)."

Fascinating addition to this list.

6 : The "You Can't Say That About That, It's A Classic" Brigade

I don't care who you are or how good your album or song is , fact of the matter is it has a shelf life. Yes , even the stuff I enjoy myself has a shelf life.

I mean several years ago I used to listen to Elephant 6 stuff on a regular basis. After a couple of years I got bored of it and have hardly listened to it since. Now I don't say anything bad about this stuff because i'm not under a constant barrage of hearing it all the time and I didn't dislike it to start with.

Now I probably hear stuff like Led Zeppelin , Queen , The Eagles , Guns n Roses , U2 or Coldplay much much more than some of the stuff I choose to listen to. If your in a workplace with a radio on you can't avoid this stuff so why the hell shouldn't I be allowed to moan about it once in a while?
I don't dislike Stairway to Heaven or Bohemian Rhapsody or Hotel California or Where The Streets Have No Name or Another Brick In The Wall to appear cool or hip or edgy or to make my own taste in music look superior. I dislike them because i'm bored of hearing them and i'm bored of being told how great they are. I mean i've had to put up with some of this stuff since fucking childhood so can you blame me for wanting to cause bodily harm to anyone playing them. I mean how many fucking times do you need to hear them.

And when someone replied to me 'You can't say that it's a classic'
Just hold me back or have an ambulance standing by.

Agree. I love Led Zeppelin but if I hear Stairway or Whole Lotta Lovin on the radio I change it to another station.

I have 10 years on you so think how much more these songs I've heard. It's gotten to the point where I despise Classic Rock stations. Songs I used to love I can't stand to hear anymore. Some songs I didn't like to begin with. I usually throw out lines like "that song was good the first 10,000 times I heard it" and I feel this is no exaggeration. I still love the classics but I try to avoid them so I can one day enjoy them again. Don't ever saturate yourself on the same songs of any time period or genre.
