is that because you're looking at numbers though? Influence will always create more bad than good.

I think it would also be a good idea to decide what we want to call influence and what we want to call a "lifting of style."

the bands being cited as the reason for grunge being a bad influence weren't really influence, they heard smells like teen spirit and hung up their posion cover band attire and went to the thrift store.

Grunge did just fine in my estimation. If you think music can be fake today, the 80's did fake like no ones business. I mean, devo wanted to be robots for god's sake, that should tell you something. I think grunge went quite a ways in reminding the people that music could be passionate.
