I would have guessed number one was going to be the list itself, but who knows now, all the walls have come down.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

1. Because covers should reflect the music. Simple as that.

Punk covers should look like this

Metal covers should look like this

Indie covers should look like this

And prog covers should look like this

Pretty basic knowledge. If you sound like Aerosmith than for the love of god don't seek out Hipgnosis for your cover art.

2. I'm just describing a scenario. But if I see something with Roger Dean cover art, I would almost automatically assume it's progressive rock, album art should indeed be a pretty good indicator of what kind of music it is. What f*cking kind of punk or indie band would seek out Roger Dean for cover art?

Heh. I've often had this same complaint about Grateful Dead album covers.

I always felt Iron Maiden went overboard with their menacing covers... as a kid it scared the **** out of me and always made me think the music was just as scary, but it really isn't.

I dunno. Their music DOES remind me of dancing teddy bears sometimes.

71 : Roger Dean Album Covers

The best thing about the invention of the CD is that if an album you want has a Roger Dean cover you can now slip it inside your copy of 60+ BBW Sluts Monthly without any embarrassment.
