No, no, no, my OCD mind likes the more complex solution.

I'm pretty sure I have OCD too, and I really prefer the former.

Honestly, I know people who got too much into instrumental skills with guitar and drums end up liking songs for only the proficiency. My friend is in love with with Satriani and I can't listen to second of it. And I notice a fair bit of drummers at my school are in love with metal. Or metal is just wildly popular and I just get into anything more than Metallica singles.

No i play a little guitar myself and the over the top fast **** just bores the hell out of me. I think its the simple minded people that like that kind of stuff, the people who play entirely too much guitar hero. Those people have no appreciation for a unique riff that involves something other than playing scales really really fast. Those people have no appreciation for a beautiful peace of drumming in odd time signatures or polyrhythms... throw a double bass drum set in there and its suddenly amazing though. I hate those kind of people.

Yeah I meant people who are in love with playing quick and can't focus on the rest of the music.

If your writing songs with generic song titles and lyrics with absolutely nothing of interest to say about anything , and then putting 10 minutes of guitar wanking in the middle of it it's probably fair to say that maybe you should put the guitar down and try practising something else. Going out & getting some life experience would be a help rather than shutting yourself away endlessly practising your technique would be a start.

If you want to make shit like this keep it in your bedroom and don't expect me to be impressed

This describes just about EVERY SINGLE ****TY band today. Most of it is ****, and there are a plethora of reasons why, this is one of the main reasons, nice to see someone else feels the way I do.

Some extremely ****ty bands Im talking about:

Fall Out Boy
My Chemical Romance
Good Charlotte
Paramore
Coldplay
Jack Johnson
Gnarles Barkley
The Jonas Brothers
Avril Levigne
Katy Perry
Leona Lewis

"fill in the blank".

Just to name a few........I'm so glad i don't listen to current/modern radio.

It did annoy me when Katy Perry released that 'extended prog wankery mix' of her single.
I think my problem with the idea of loving a band for being technically good is the fact that it turns music into a sport. The faster, the more accurate or skillful the better. This really isn't what music is about.

Did you even read the rant? Not one of those artists could be considered to focus too much on technical musicianship rather than crafting songs, nor do any of them include overly long instrumentals.
Half of them aren't even rock artist and don't play their own music......

Honestly, your unqualified blanket statements are almost as irritating as Cobe Kai was, do you give modern music any chance at all or simply listen with the intention of hating it?
