Operation Mindcrime was awesome IMO. I still have my vinyl copy that I purchased when it was first released in 1988. I thought it was an excellent concept album and showed their growth as a band. I'm still a big fan of Rage For Order but Mindcrime is definitely up there as one of my favorite albums. Too bad they couldn't hold on to the magic. The songwriting got very weak, especially after Chris DeGarmo split and Geoff Tate just doesn't have it anymore.

Some of it is utter crap but I love them for having the balls to make it. And release it at a reduced price.

I still don't understand this thread. Does overblown mean overproduced? or overhyped?

Then by all means DSOTM has to be in the top...well...one. Alan Parsons engineered the living **** out of that record, and it's still one of the most overhyped albums ever. Yet so very good.

Oh I agree. It is one of my favourite Metal albums but there are elements that I don't like (the production).

So what with Loveless and DSOTM being mentioned, I take it "overblown" now just means well produced.

Yeah i don't understand the DSOTM mention, from my limited Floyd knowledge surely The Wall would be a better choice?
