I'm willing to try anything, but theres stuff out there nowadays that makes Henry Cow sound like The Monkees. What are the most inaccessible artists and albums in your opinion?

Theres stuff that once upon a time would have been considered incredibly inacessible, but now we'll call it pop, we call My Bloody Valentine pop, but if they were around 30 years earlier, they wouldn't have been considered pop, they would have been considered insane. So it depends on the person really.

Some things that are accessible to me are not accessible to others, and some stuff thats considered accessible to others is not at all accessible to me. One good example is Psychocandy by The Jesus & Mary Chain, for whatever reason this album is considered "pop". Pretty much anything could be considered pop these days, I mean you make songs that sound like they were recorded at a construction site, and somehow people not only call it pop, they even call it accessible. Well not for me, to me it just sounds like Metal Machine Music with someone humming Beach Boys melodies over it, that dosen't make it accessible.

Then theres Lightning Bolt and Sunn O))) X_x

I really don't know what "accessible" means. Are AC/DC accessible? Back In Black is one of the best selling albums ever, but I personally don't find them particularly accessible. Is it just another term for what's in vogue?

Everyone talks about how accessible the Beach Boys are, but I don't hear it; it's just a bunch of dull melodies to me.

But as far as the JAMC go, I think Darklands would be their most "accessible" (read: easiest to digest for the average neophyte) album, not Psychocandy.

For the majority of the radio-listening populace I'd imagine their parameters for what is accessible are broadly similar.

If it was a scale: you'd have something like 'Please Please Me' at one end (catchy melodies written to sell records); the other extreme would be half an hour of white noise by Merzbow or musique concrete - in pop terms far too unstructured and abrasive to make for easy listening.
Not that your modern-day wannabe hustler/scene kid could digest 'Please Please Me' but you see where I'm going.

Youth culture today has a problem anyway, there hasn't been a good generation gap since punk and most kids don't like hard dance; so you're left with the Killers and music that you can listen to with your parents coming at you from every shop PA. LAME.

Mixing clean female vocals with deep growls in Doom metal seems kinda hard for me to get into. Still getting used to it.(as I've been listening to such music quite a lot lately)
Other than that, i don't find anything inaccessible(or atleast for now).
Some stuff do bore me real quick though(doesn't put me off immediately)...Wankery **** like Malmsteen, Brutal/Slam Death metal, where the vocals tend to bore me quite a bit(although i don't mind listening to some of the bands there like Nile, Gorguts & Demilich), Cheesy power metal(i can handle it for like 30 mins at the most) & quite a few generic hardcore/metalcore bands.
And oh, like someone already mentioned, the beach boys bore me as well. Never really understood their appeal. Been quite a while since i listened to them though...

You guys think the Beach Boys are inaccessible? Really? I cant think of a single Beach Boys song that isn't consonant like the whole way through...they never used disonance which is usually what would make a artist inaccessible.

I don't find them inaccessible...just boring.
To be fair though, i haven't given them a proper listen yet. Just a handful of songs which i have on my comp, along with some on radio, which just bored me after sometime.

To be honest with you, I've always thought they were boring too...until I heard some fantastic performances of their songs by a local group. I think maybe it had to do with the recording quality rather than the actual songs themselves...

No you don't quite get it. Something could be accessible and still not appeal to you.

"Inaccessible" for the most part is used to describe something that is so out there that it makes you ponder if it even qualifies as music.
