OK let me see :D

Van Morrison - Not a fan but can appreciate his talent

Led Zeppelin - Have to be in the mood for them, just haven't been in that mood for about 10 years now

Allman Brothers - Music for people who own pick up trucks & guns. I.E. not me

Ben Harper - Don't really like or dislike him just never heard anything by him that grabs me

Elvis Costello - Not a big fan but I own about 4 or 5 of his albums

The Clash - I own over 40 Clash albums , they only made about 5 that should tell you everything about that

Bob Dylan - I like his mid 70s stuff like Blood On The Tracks & Desire and some of his early stuff but the rest just bores me.

The Beatles - I don't hate them like many people seem to think I do. I just get tired of people slating the Stones to get a point across of how good the Beatles were , and it happens a lot on here.

Pink Floyd - Like: Pipers , Meddle , DSOTM , WYWH & Animals
Hate : Atom Heart Mother , The Wall , anything post Waters.

Beck - Good but I find myself losing interest with every album

Velvet Underground - Good but vastly overrated , John Cale's solo stuff is awesome though.

The Who - Loved their first 3 albums I just thought it was a shame that Tommy dominated their entire live show for about the next 10 years afterwards , i'd love to find a Who bootleg from the 70s without so much of that album being played.

The Yardbirds - Some awesome singles , good live band too. Not so keen on their albums though

311 - Heard one song , thought it was boring

Jimi Hendrix (Experience) - Own loads by

Ben Folds (Five) - Never appealed
Queen - They are like one of those bands I don't need to listen to because I always seem to hear them everyday already.
Other than that i'd say the same as what I said for Led Zeppelin applies to Queen.

Eric Clapton\Cream\D&D\BF etc) - Cream had their moments but thats about all I can listen to here.

Incubus - To me they're just dull M.O.R. stadium rock

Jack Johnson - Only heard one song , again it did nothing for me

Otis Redding - Never really listened to much of his stuff. I appreciate he has a talent and maybe one day i'll investigate that , just not this moment in time.

Rage Against The Machine - How long have you got. I could lash out at these jokers all day.

Stevie Wonder - Same as what everybody else thinks. 60/70s - genius / 80s onwards - WTF ?

Weezer - I fucking hate nerdy looking blokes making chirpy pop songs

Bob Marley (Wailers) - Everybody listens to Bob Marley , I don't need to. I know practically all his songs without having to own any of his records.

Feel free to do my top 25 :)

This sounds like a great thread idea.

The Fall - For whatever reason, are considered the essential post punk band by many. They bore me, if you're gonna make simple music at least put a little more life into it. IMO Pavement took their sound and made it infinitely better.

The Clash - I love em, but I prefer their more ambitious work to their earlier punk material.

David Bowie - Is top 10 for me. Its hard to pick a favorite era, I prefer his glam stuff but I'm really getting into Low. A completely different experience.

Rolling Stones - Never thought of them as more than decent. I never understood what was so freaking amazing about them.

Motorhead - Haven't heard much from them.

The Cure - I only have Disintegration, but I really love it.

Primal Scream - Need to hear more from this band, Screamadelica is insanely good.

Alice Cooper - I think he's great, though I never really got too heavly into him and am only familiar with his earlier work.

Radiohead - ...

Can - A respectable and very original band. But they have a lot of material that bores me and just seems too abstract for it's own good.

Sterolab - Only have Emperor Tomato Ketchup. Really good album, but I'm not really interested enough to get another album from them.

Nick Cave - This guy has had a lot of hype lately, and I'm impartial to him, on one hand The Boatmans Call is a really good album, on the other, I find a lot of his stuff to be boring crooning that seems custom made for a Robert Altman film.

Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Errrrrrrrr. I'll get back to you on this one.

Jesus & The Mary Chain - I can't for the life of me understand the appeal of this band. But for whatever reason, playing dull "pop" songs over the sound of chainshaws and vacuum cleaners really appeals to people.

Captain Beefheart - Awesome.

Husker Du - I love New Day Rising, but I find a lot of their earlier stuff particularly Zen Arcade to be pretty unlistenable.

Crass - Libertine stuff is great, I don't like the Ignorant era stuff.

Sly & The Family Stone - Need to hear more from them, but they just don't excite me like P-Funk do.

Deerhoof - Now I have to be honest, I freaking hate this band. I don't think I've ever had a more dificult time trying to listen to a band than Deerhoof. Seriously, they sound like the freaking Shaggs.

Iggy Pop - Never cared for him at all, certainly not his solo material, and even The Stooges I am impartial to.

AC/DC - I think they're great and all, but to have everything by this band is seriously pretty pointless. And they really should retire.

The Who - One of my favorite bands. Though that should be something we share in common, I know you mostly only like their earlier material and hate Tommy and Whos Next, which predictably are my favorites.

Black Sabbath - I don't know anyone who dosen't like Black Sabbath thats not a blue haired old Christian lady.

Sonic Youth - Love em.

Public Image Ltd - They have some interesting material, Levene has a really cool guitar style. But I find several of their songs to be rather annoying and just too miminalist and repetitive. Anything with Johnny Rotten involved can only be tollerated for so long.

Now it's my turn.

King Crimson
Yes
The Beatles
The Residents
Radiohead
Minutemen
Pink Floyd
The Flaming Lips
Björk
The Replacements
Nirvana
Super Furry Animals
Led Zeppelin
Brian Eno
The Smashing Pumpkins
Buzz****s
Incubus
Gentle Giant
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Pavement
Parliament/Funkadelic
The Clash
Porcupine Tree
AC/DC
My Bloody Valentine

The Velvet Underground overrated?? Since when?

boo boo 07-19-2008 11:29 AM

The Velvet Underground were one of the most original bands of their time. And no other band with such lack of commercial success has had as great of an influence. I'm not a huge fan of them but then again VU&N is one of the most groundbreaking albums ever made and it certainly deserves it's praise.

WeeLittleHobbit 07-19-2008 11:32 AM

Exactly. The band literally no commercial success. How could they be considered overrated? Probably one of the most underrated bands ever IMO.

Son of JayJamJah 07-19-2008 12:25 PM

Let's go ahead and make this a spin-off thread eh?

Urban's 25

The Fall - Tried to like, but I just can't

The Clash - Brilliant band, London Calling is a top 20 album of mine (just recently realized how much I love it), Sandinista and the debut are top 100's.

David Bowie - A little to out there at times for me, but I admirer his work greatly.

The Rolling Stones - yuck. As much I love some of the music, the last few live shoes I've seen plus the lack of quality releases in 2+ decades dulls them greatly.

Motörhead - Here's how you know I'm not a real fan. I fucking love "ace of Spades"

The Cure - Best goth rockers ever. Disintegration is among the most underrated albums of all time. #26 on my most played list, will pass Weezer soon as the new album is now out of my rotation.

Primal Scream - Downloaded some music becuase of your 100 thread, it's growing on me.

Alice Cooper - Love it. Live is awesome and I have an autograophed bottle of hot sauce from him.

Radiohead - Very good band, although I think their fans greatly over value them.

Can - Can't

Stereolab - If ignorance is bliss...then I am blissful toward Sterolab (care to up me a 5 song comp?)

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Great sound, Dig Lazarus is good album, my knowledge of the band extended as far as "red right hand" a few years back.

Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - No idea who this is, but I love the name.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - I like em' but I refuse to call them great. It's quirky, interesting music.

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - My borthers all0time favorite, but he likes weird music.

Hüsker Dü - Bought an album, but yet to listen.

Crass - I still pop Christ the album on the turntable every now and then. Overall I'd say impartial unless someone has a real strong opinion of them one way or the other.

Sly & The Family Stone - A lot of awful albums, but a few great ones.

Deerhoof - Haven't heard anything that hooked me.

Iggy Pop - No thanks

AC/DC - I love that one song that sounds like all the other ones. A guilty pleasure.

The Who - Great Band.

Black Sabbath - Loved em' in my teens. Still a fan of the early stuff in particular.

Sonic Youth - I just don't get it.

Public Image Ltd. - Never listened to.

Boo Boo 25

King Crimson - Thought they were underrated until i got here. Red is my favorite of theirs.

Yes - Never got into them, but i dig it.

The Beatles - Never heard of em'

The Residents - I'd evict them

Radiohead - Already covered

Minutemen - Very little experience listening.

Pink Floyd - Favorite prog band

The Flaming Lips - Never appealed to me.

Björk - Not for me, music annoys me.

The Replacements - Had a phase where I was a fan.

Nirvana - In Utero works for me, overall I am growing more and more disinterested.

Super Furry Animals - Just a few songs I've heard I don't care for.

Led Zeppelin - Best rock band ever

Brian Eno - Roxy Music was great

The Smashing Pumpkins - Strikes me as arrogant music with little substance.

Buzz****s - Never listened to

Incubus - Love S.C.I.E.N.C.E, make yourself and morning view.

Gentle Giant -

Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - Covered this one

Pavement - Another band I don't get.

Parliament/Funkadelic - P Funk rocks

The Clash - Covered it

Porcupine Tree - Still trying to like this music. I think an interview with the band ruined it for me. No personality at all.

AC/DC - Covered it

My Bloody Valentine - I'll pass based on what I've heard.

They're overrated by critics. If we were going by commerical success, this thread would be dominated by anti-Spice Girls rants. "Overrated" generally refers to critical consensus.

I love the first two VU albums (don't care for the others), but they're still definitely overrated. They were enormously influential, and their early work still holds up today, but you won't find a single critic (maybe a few deviants) who will dare to criticize the VU. There's a story Lester Bangs used to tell about journalists who deified the VU and heaped praised on their albums. When Bangs visited the journalists' houses, he'd find that Loaded had hardly been played, White Light/White Heat was still in its shrinkwrap, etc.

ProggyMan 07-19-2008 02:51 PM

The Velvet Underground is my favorite VU record. It's not as experimental as their debut or WL/WH but it's got my favorite songs and that's what counts.

Ok, I guess I can see what you're talking about. Yes, their first 2 albums definately outshine the latter two, but I still enjoy them all. I still don't feel that they're overrated, but I can definately see where you're coming from.

Ben Harper- Don't really know anything about him.

Elvis Costello- Haven't heard much of him but I am interested to see what he's like.

The Clash- great punk rock band. Love their sound.

Bob Dylan- One of the best folk artists ever. Great songwriter.

The Beatles- Greatest band ever.

Pink Floyd- awesome avant garde band. Truly unique sound.

Beck- Not impressed with his work.

The Velvet Underground- One of the most influential bands ever. Great stuff.

The Who- When it comes to British rock, these guys completely own. Move over, Rolling Stones!

The Yardbirds- ahead of their time. spawned some of the greatest rock acts ever.

311- Very cool sound. Love the whole hard rock/reggae thing.

Jimi Hendrix- Probably the best guitarist ever.

Ben Folds- Don't know anything about 'em.

Queen- I think I've made it clear what I think of them...

Eric Clapton- A little bit goes a long way for me...

Incubus- Never really listened to them.

Jack Johnson- He's decent. Nothing more.

Otis Redding- I hate to say that I don't know much about him. I realize that needs to change..

Rage Against the Machine- STUPID!! I hate the vocalist, & their whole style sucks ass.

Stevie Wonder- Not much of a fan to be honest... I respect him but I'm not too impressed with his work...

Good thing this isn't Prog archives.

Double X 07-19-2008 05:30 PM

The Beatles - My favorite band :wavey: I'm doing their nomination for MB hof

Led Zeppelin - Never really got into them. I guess it's possible to love them but Plant's voice really irks me. Page's guitar is very good, but never touched me deeply at all.

The Who - Love all of it. Saw a live concert when I was 12

Pink Floyd - Early stuff is my favorite

The Doors - Dislike Morrison, the rest of the band is alright. Organ never sounded good on their songs though.

Jimi Hendrix - I like him a little. A listen from time to time.
Boston - Hard rock with an arena flavor, loud guitars (not just heavy) and pompous vocals that sound like anthems all the time. not really my stuff.

Amon Düül II - Don't listen to German music too much, but I have heard a bit of them. A little experimental stuff.

The Velvet Underground - Great stuff, I got their first 4 albums.

Johnny Cash - Him and Buddy Holly are most of the 50s rock I listen to.

Nirvana - They're alright, don't listen to them too much and are a bit overrated.

Aerosmith - what I said earlier about them

Van Halen - Hard Rock stuff I never really liked

Ravi Shankar - Finally someone who likes Indian music too.

The Black Keys - My friend JUST bought an album at Newbury comics today (I bought 'Barrett' album there)

Coldplay -

The Rolling Stones

Creedence Clearwater Revival -

Allman Brothers Band - Can't relate with them too well, my friend loves em but I can't listen to much of their stuff without being bored (espicially live stuff). Little Martha is alright though. I prefer the Duane Allman songs.

Frank Sinatra - Never heard him.

The Grateful Dead - Barely heard 'em. I guess Casey Jones is okay, but it's not my music.

The Moody Blues - I usually like lush pop, can't listen to these guys though, especially with the over-dubbing

Red Hot Chili Peppers - really don't like 'em.

Steely Dan - can't love them. I can admire their skill, but it gets really dry sometimes. A lot like some of LZ and most of Allman Brothers Band.

Tony Bennett - Never heard him.

 I like most of your stuff though.

Most of the stuff at the top I listen to more, most of the stuff at the bottom I listen to less. It's my favorite 25 (most played)

Beatles
Ween
Syd Barrett
George Harrison
Pink Floyd (early stuff and 'Animals')
Cream
Velvet Underground
The Clash
The Who
Ravi Shankar
Beach Boys
The Yardbirds
Jethro Tull
CCR
The Monkees (laugh all you want)
John Lennon
The Byrds
Procol Harum
Primus
Beck

boo boo 07-19-2008 09:16 PM

Dammit, I did Urban first you all ignored mine. :(

Beatles - Either my favorite or second favorite band.

Ween - Haven't heard much from them.

Syd Barrett - I think he's great and all, I especially love that psychedelic style of guitar playing that he pretty much pioneered. But I do think he's overrated. He only penned a few great songs with The Floyd, and they have had many more since. I'm tired of people saying the band ended with him.

George Harrison - One of my favorite guitar players and he penned some truly great songs, I love the solo stuff of his I've heard but I certainly need to hear more outside of All Things Must Pass.

Pink Floyd - Argubly my favorite band.

Cream - I think they're great, and certainly the best thing Clapton ever did.

Velvet Underground - Maybe a little overrated by the hipster crowd, but they were a very innovative band and they have some amazing songs.

The Clash - Love em.

The Who - Love em.

Ravi Shankar - I have one album by him, The Sounds of India, it's really good and I've been interested in hearing more from him.

Beach Boys - Great, though Pet Sounds as big of a landmark as it is, still might be a tad overrated.

The Yardbirds - Roger the Engineer is an awesome album, but theres a lot of bands I only know by one album. Jeff Beck is a guitar god, that much is clear, and to be honest I prefer his solo stuff.

Jethro Tull - Freaking love this band.

CCR - I used to heavily into them, I still think they're great.

The Monkees - Lol

John Lennon - Only his first two albums matter to me, but they're so damn good.

The Byrds - Never been too heavly into that kinda rock, but they're certainly a great band.

Procol Harum - Their debut is excellent, though that and A Salty Dog is all I know.

Primus - Awesome band, though it's been a while since I've listened to them.

Beck - One of the most innovative and creative artists today. Odelay is one of my favorite albums, and I love how he could do something completely different like Sea Changes and it still be very good.

King Crimson
Yes
The Beatles
The Residents
Radiohead
Minutemen
Pink Floyd
The Flaming Lips
Björk
The Replacements
Nirvana
Super Furry Animals
Led Zeppelin
Brian Eno
The Smashing Pumpkins
Buzz****s
Incubus
Gentle Giant
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Pavement
Parliament/Funkadelic
The Clash

And please grill me this time. ;)

I just had a great idea, anyone who has already given out their top 25, if they rate someone elses and it's their turn again, just give out the next 25, and so on.

And I would merge this into a new thread, if I knew how. :(

Seltzer 07-20-2008 03:35 AM

Sorted. You just have to select the posts you want and move them all in one step to a new thread.

jackhammer 07-20-2008 05:11 AM

OK. I will do Proggys:

The National-Never heard a single track by them.

Converge- Only heard a couple of tracks but nothing new to me.

Spoon- who?

Public Enemy-Great band if a little dated. I rarely listen to them these days though.

Counting Crows-I cannot stand these. Typical MOR to me.

Company Flow-Who?

Deltron 3030-Who?

King Crimson-I have a shedload of their back catalogue on my other PC which I have'nt transfered. I have barely listened to any of it but their debut is amazing.

Bon Iver-Oh yes. I have converted a few posters on here to his music :D

Terence Trent D'Arby-His debut was a good pop album and he did one or two decent things after. He should have had more longevity.

Cody ChesnuTT-Who?

David Bowie-Station To Station is my favourite and I have been listening to 1.Outside and Earthling lately. Great albums. I probably like his glam era the least!

Coldplay-Oh god no. The new album shows some departure but hate this bland stadium lighters in the air rock. Spies is a very good song admittedly.

Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds-just gets better with every listen. Abattoir Blues has been played a lot recently.

Common-Is he a rapper? Heard the name that's all.

Radiohead-not much to say is there? A band that have worn the genius cap many times. The Bends is a patchy album though.

Comus-First Utterance is a brilliantly wacky folk rock album but I have to be in the mood for it.

Tom Waits-When I am in the mood for Waits, his music hits the spot. Phenomenally good artist.

Comadre-another rapper?

Colour Haze-The stoner band? If so they are OK but Tempel has never blown me away. Masters Of Reality are one of the best stoner bands IMO.

Leonard Cohen-Jeez. Anyone got a serrated knife for my jugular? Talk about melancholy!

Bright Eyes-no no no. Not my thing at all.

Andrew Bird-Who?

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth-I only have one Pete Rock track and it ahem rocks! but that's it as far as I know.

My Bloody Valentine-Isn't Anything is near my all time top 10 albums. Nuff said.

Mine:

Pink Floyd.
Porcupine Tree.
Slayer.
John Martyn.
Fields Of The Nephilim.

Pink Floyd. Never was a fan but Pipers is blowing me away lately, brilliant album.
Porcupine Tree. Believe it or not i've never listened to them!
Slayer. Made my favourite metal album. Respect.
John Martyn. Nice enough, doesn't really catch me.
Fields Of The Nephilim. Whoosh.
Clannad. Judging by the track on your mix, quite nice.
Iron Maiden. Not a massive fan but you've got to love some Maiden every now and again.
Hawkwind. Reminds me of an ex so i've never really delved in much, nice trippy stuff though.
Dubmatix. Great ecclectic dub, glad i checked them out!
65daysofstatic. Never heard anything, nice name though.
Lamb. Pretty good, should get an album at some point.
Frank Zappa. I only have a greatest hits comp at the mo, really great.
Nick Cave. Yeeeeeah. What a man.
Massive Attack. Love them. Mezzanine is a classic with me, i adore it.
Fela Kuti. The 'oo?
New Order. Alright, not astonishing though.
Freestylers. They're one of those names i know but i can't attach to actual songs!
David Bowie. Just... the best. It's hard to do such an artist justice in words.
Barclay James Harvest. Ermmmm
G.B.H I recognise the name, but again...
Fugazi. Good stuff when you're in the mood.
Mogwai. I hate the term Post Rock but they're my favourite post rock band.
Black Sabbath. Yeah got to have a bit of Sabbath.
Tangerine Dream. Never heard anything.
Kate Bush. She's responsible for some damn good pop songs. Hounds of Love is cute weirdness at its best.
Can. Makes me trip balls.

Miiiine.

The Smiths/Moz
PJ Harvey

Luke I know you like Mogwai, so by that you will also like 65daysofstatic. They are quite similar but both are still unique enough.

David Bowie - grossly overrated + i find the music to be poor in quality
Brian Eno - enjoy several of his albums, esp. music for airports
Wire - admirable band, grew up listening to pink flag
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band - impacted my musical world more than any other artist
The Rolling Stones - decent rock band that i slightly prefer over the beatles
The Velvet Underground - debut and white light/white heat are great but self-titled and loaded are ****
T. Rex - prefer tyrannosaurus rex over just t. rex
Minutemen - great band but i prefer hüsker dü over them slightly
Ludwig van Beethoven - who the **** is that?
New York Dolls - greatness
Roxy Music - enjoyed their self-titled, but everything else seemed weak and/or fake
Brett Smiley - the little i've heard from him is disappointing
Talking Heads - enjoyable group, liked 77 and remain in light a lot
Frank Zappa - genius, weasels ripped my flesh, burnt weeny sandwich, and absolutely free are godly
****ney Rebel - average, although i do like the song tumbling down off of psychomodo
Hüsker Dü - grand band, everything falls apart > zen arcade/new day rising
The Cars - some listenable pop music
The Stooges - the greatness that the doors failed to be
This Heat - incredible band; self-titled is MUCH better than deceit
The Kinks - i've got a place in my heart for the kinks, face to face = best album
Can - good band, 'nuff said
The Soft Boys - another band i grew up with, old pervert is a classic song
The Feelies - great band with one of the greatest drummers of all time
Pere Ubu - incredible.
Boredoms - this here is some good noise, pop tatari = best album

Finally, a list where I fuckin' recognize over half the bands...

The Velvet Underground - New York's best band produced, ever.
Public Enemy - I think they started hip-hop.
The National - Great indie band.
Deltron 3030 - IMO one of the best (yet most underrated) rap groups ever.
Spoon - Contrary to what most ppl believe, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga wasn't a step up for them.
Bon Iver - Best album of the year. Great lyricist, excellent songwriter.
Porcupine Tree - One of my newfound joys. Love 'em.
David Bowie - The quintessential musician. He did a little bit of everything, and most of it was great.
The Jesus and Mary Chain - JAMC and the Bunnymen had a bigger influence on modern music than REM and Sonic Youth. Certainly an excellent act.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Okay, don't really listen to tho...
Gentle Giant - Crazy but great.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Overrated by a lot of people here, but certainly good.
Tom Waits - Bob Dylan Lite? He was a great songwriter but was on and off with his work. I wouldn't call him a legend like many suggest.
Radiohead - Biggest band of the decade. Everything after Pablo Honey was good.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Post-rock meets experimental? Strange but otherwise excellent.
Cannibal Ox - Heard of, but never listened to.
Bright Eyes - Conor Oberst has some of the most overrated lyrics ever and is by no means a good songwriter or musician.
Leonard Cohen - Okay, but not my type of cheese.
Elliott Smith - Overrated here, but a great songwriter nonetheless. (I would put him in the top 20 greatest songwriters ever).
MF DOOM - Loved him in Danger Doom and Madvillain. Great rapper.
Grateful Dead - My father was a Deadhead. I never saw anything special about them. =/
Steely Dan - Excellent, underrated act. One of my favorite '70s acts.
King Crimson - My absolute favorite prog band.
Dr. Octagon - Heard of him, but never listened to any solo works.
Faust - Great Krautrock.

Some of my shit was accidentally on when I was importing CDs, so I'm gonna ignore it for what I actually listened to...

Proggy:

VU - Already stated my opinion on them, they had some great songs and VU&N is a great album but beyond that I'm not big on them.

Public Enemy - Hell yes, got me hugely interested in hip hop. It Takes a Nation and Fear of a Black Planet are undisputable classics.

The National - Bllaaaaaaaaaah. I don't like these guys at all, I hate the Nick Cave wannabe vocals and the music overall is so inredibly undercooked and boring.

Deltron 3030 - ...

Spoon - Now if there ever was a stereotypical indie band it's these guys, so plain and average to me.

Bon Iver - ...

Porcupine Tree - Amazing band, I seriously don't understand why they are not more popular. They have something about them that should appeal to both prog fans and casual musicgoers.

David Bowie - The great chameleon, what else is there to say? This guy is a god.

Jesus and Mary Chain - Said it before, I can't really bear listening to these guys anymore.

Brian Jonestown Massacre - Meh. If I want to listen to garage rock I'll listen to Nuggets, because those songs were actually made in the 60s.

Gentle Giant - Make love to me.

Nick Cave - I think he's got some great stuff, but I don't quite get all the hype.

Tom Waits - Brilliant and one of the best crossover artists ever.

Radiohead - Well I'm hoping to see these guys in a week, so hell yeah I love em.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Amazing, unbelievable the kinda sounds these guys can get out of a guitar.

Cannibal Ox - ...

Bright Eyes - *vomits*

Leonard Cohen - I put him in the "great songwriter but you wont catch me listening to him" category.

Elliot Smith - A great songwriter and a great voice, was a huge loss.

MF Doom - Hell yeah. Danger Doom was where it's at.

Grateful Dead - I think they're an amazing band but I'm not the biggest fan, I love their country songs the most.

Steely Dan - Think they're great.

King Crimson - Like I have to say anything.

Dr. Octogon - ...

Faust - Pretty sweet stuff.

Sam:

Hawkwind - Excellent stoner band. Most prefer their real hard rock stuff but I prefer their spacier prog works, like Warrior on the Edge of Time.

Gang of Four - Entertainment! is all I know but it's soooooo good.

The Pretty Things - Stuff I've heard I quite like but I need to hear more from them.

Black Flag - Required listening for anyone that gets angry every now and then.

Atmosphere - ...

Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup is a fantastic album, thats all I know from them.

Kula Shaker - Only heard a few songs, nothing spectacular and just seems like by the numbers rock to me.

David Holmes - ...

John Coltrane - Amazing, love his work with T. Monk too.

Mickey Hart - He has solo stuff? O_o

Graham Coxon - Not familar with his stuff outside of Blur.

The Go! Team - Not bad, but this sounds like something I would have been obsessed with when I was 10.

Manic Street Preachers - Holy Bible, screw everything else and **** Nicky Wire.

Mansun - What in the hell is wrong with this guys voice?

The Eels - They have some cool mellow kinda songs.

The Auteurs - ...

Belle and Sebastian - They bore me to tears.

The Offspring - Used to love them when I was a kid, dont listen to them anymore.

Suede - Not a big britpop fan but they have some pretty good stuff.

Lou Rhodes - ...

Nine Inch Nails - I like them, not their fans so much.

Hum - ...

Alice Cooper - Hell yeah for his earlier stuff.

Against Me! - Not into that stuff, my brother is.

Jamiroquai - Uh.... That guy with the hat?

I already did my top 25 so heres the next 25.

The albums that I have are folk compositions. In them he abandoned all techniques of songwriting instead preferring to jam on a djembe for 40-45 minutes. It's hilariously unorganized but surprisingly relaxing music. I found it in my dad's dust bin (he was a huge Deadhead).
