The Kinks - hit or miss for me
The Beatles - one of the greatest bands of all time Jack Drag - wat eels - wat Small Faces - nice little band, overlooked often. Flaming Lips - never got too into them, though i have tried. Built To Spill - in my top five favorite bands Radiohead - best band evar Easybeats - naww Paul Revere & The Raiders - dont like, bland. Zombies - never really listened to them Grandaddy - wat Starlight Mints - wat Augie March - wat The Who - i really got into them recently, amazing live band. Rolling Stones (up to 81) - yeah, i like them. Creedance Clearwater Revival - another very good band, bit overrated. Kingsbury Manx - wat New Pornographers - nevr got into them either, i tried. The Animals - yeah, ok. Robyn Hitchcok (name spelled wrong because of idiotic swear filter) - wat Ween - havent listened to them too much. Sparklehorse - see above Monkees - haha. Brian Jonestown Massacre - no havent heard of alot of your stuff. |

Finally, a list where I fuckin' recognize over half the bands...
The Velvet Underground - New York's best band produced, ever. Public Enemy - I think they started hip-hop. The National - Great indie band. Deltron 3030 - IMO one of the best (yet most underrated) rap groups ever. Spoon - Contrary to what most ppl believe, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga wasn't a step up for them. Bon Iver - Best album of the year. Great lyricist, excellent songwriter. Porcupine Tree - One of my newfound joys. Love 'em. David Bowie - The quintessential musician. He did a little bit of everything, and most of it was great. The Jesus and Mary Chain - JAMC and the Bunnymen had a bigger influence on modern music than REM and Sonic Youth. Certainly an excellent act. The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Okay, don't really listen to tho... Gentle Giant - Crazy but great. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Overrated by a lot of people here, but certainly good. Tom Waits - Bob Dylan Lite? He was a great songwriter but was on and off with his work. I wouldn't call him a legend like many suggest. Radiohead - Biggest band of the decade. Everything after Pablo Honey was good. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Post-rock meets experimental? Strange but otherwise excellent. Cannibal Ox - Heard of, but never listened to. Bright Eyes - Conor Oberst has some of the most overrated lyrics ever and is by no means a good songwriter or musician. Leonard Cohen - Okay, but not my type of cheese. Elliott Smith - Overrated here, but a great songwriter nonetheless. (I would put him in the top 20 greatest songwriters ever). MF DOOM - Loved him in Danger Doom and Madvillain. Great rapper. Grateful Dead - My father was a Deadhead. I never saw anything special about them. =/ Steely Dan - Excellent, underrated act. One of my favorite '70s acts. King Crimson - My absolute favorite prog band. Dr. Octagon - Heard of him, but never listened to any solo works. Faust - Great Krautrock. Some of my shit was accidentally on when I was importing CDs, so I'm gonna ignore it for what I actually listened to... VU - Already stated my opinion on them, they had some great songs and VU&N is a great album but beyond that I'm not big on them. Public Enemy - Hell yes, got me hugely interested in hip hop. It Takes a Nation and Fear of a Black Planet are undisputable classics. The National - Bllaaaaaaaaaah. I don't like these guys at all, I hate the Nick Cave wannabe vocals and the music overall is so inredibly undercooked and boring. Deltron 3030 - ... Spoon - Now if there ever was a stereotypical indie band it's these guys, so plain and average to me. Bon Iver - ... Porcupine Tree - Amazing band, I seriously don't understand why they are not more popular. They have something about them that should appeal to both prog fans and casual musicgoers. David Bowie - The great chameleon, what else is there to say? This guy is a god. Jesus and Mary Chain - Said it before, I can't really bear listening to these guys anymore. Brian Jonestown Massacre - Meh. If I want to listen to garage rock I'll listen to Nuggets, because those songs were actually made in the 60s. Gentle Giant - Make love to me. Nick Cave - I think he's got some great stuff, but I don't quite get all the hype. Tom Waits - Brilliant and one of the best crossover artists ever. Radiohead - Well I'm hoping to see these guys in a week, so hell yeah I love em. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Amazing, unbelievable the kinda sounds these guys can get out of a guitar. Cannibal Ox - ... Bright Eyes - *vomits* Leonard Cohen - I put him in the "great songwriter but you wont catch me listening to him" category. Elliot Smith - A great songwriter and a great voice, was a huge loss. MF Doom - Hell yeah. Danger Doom was where it's at. Grateful Dead - I think they're an amazing band but I'm not the biggest fan, I love their country songs the most. Steely Dan - Think they're great. King Crimson - Like I have to say anything. Dr. Octogon - ... Faust - Pretty sweet stuff. Sam: Hawkwind - Excellent stoner band. Most prefer their real hard rock stuff but I prefer their spacier prog works, like Warrior on the Edge of Time. Gang of Four - Entertainment! is all I know but it's soooooo good. The Pretty Things - Stuff I've heard I quite like but I need to hear more from them. Black Flag - Required listening for anyone that gets angry every now and then. Atmosphere - ... Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup is a fantastic album, thats all I know from them. Kula Shaker - Only heard a few songs, nothing spectacular and just seems like by the numbers rock to me. David Holmes - ... John Coltrane - Amazing, love his work with T. Monk too. Mickey Hart - He has solo stuff? O_o Graham Coxon - Not familar with his stuff outside of Blur. The Go! Team - Not bad, but this sounds like something I would have been obsessed with when I was 10. Manic Street Preachers - Holy Bible, screw everything else and **** Nicky Wire. Mansun - What in the hell is wrong with this guys voice? The Eels - They have some cool mellow kinda songs. The Auteurs - ... Belle and Sebastian - They bore me to tears. The Offspring - Used to love them when I was a kid, dont listen to them anymore. Suede - Not a big britpop fan but they have some pretty good stuff. Lou Rhodes - ... Nine Inch Nails - I like them, not their fans so much. Hum - ... Alice Cooper - Hell yeah for his earlier stuff. Against Me! - Not into that stuff, my brother is. Jamiroquai - Uh.... That guy with the hat? I already did my top 25 so heres the next 25.
